They want to clear balance unsold units. Encourage Sporeans to live in JB so as to increase rental market income for their citizens as well. Business/sales in JB will boom
Simple thing to solve actually. Why think so much. Just revert back to the time when Barisan National was in charged. Malaysians and Singaporeans live in JB but work in SG. As long Singaporeans don't overstay its fine no problem. When this happens automatically those other foreign talents working in SG would also follow the Malaysians and Singaporeans. I remember very clearly even the Ang Mohs working in SG lived in JB with their family. Just make MACS as like before...just pay RM30 in JB or S$30 in SG again like in the past. Property and rental market would be taken up quickly.

So, what so difficult for them to admit that the old scheme by Barisan National was a PERFECT FORMULA for foreign revenues and investments for JB but not for Federal Government in KL though :ROFLMAO:

Mean I go to the usual chop pp counter then ask the officer to help me with the registration?
Yes, not sure if all counters can register but that time I queue at the extreme right hand side counter that is next to e-gate to register when it newly launched.

Before 50, I tried living in jb for half a year on macs (now gone), got bored and decided not to buy anything in jb. I have lived in oz before, jb is even more boring than down under. After 50, i dashed to Thailand happily on a 1 yr oa visa (retirement visa), after a year didnt like it, not sure why, feel the thais now super 'gian lui' , didn't have a very good impression, so didn't renew my oa visa (can extend free for another year). Now I am happily zooming to different cities within asia with my no.1 sg passport. 1 year 12 mths, if I go to any country that allows 3 mth visa free, i retire in 4 countries in a year. So far i have been living in temperate zones, loving the idea of quarterly retirement!
Nice lifestyle! So everytime u go to a new country, u re-rent a apartment for the stay or u kept rental apartments fully paid throughout the year for the 4 countries?

Yup, my ex tenants from jb moved back. Rental they pay me now used to finance the second property. First property in Mt Austin. Second is the under construction space residency opp ksl. Rm500k plus for a 2br unit.
SGrean can buy rm500k property? Leasehold?

I think maybe for those rich people from Muslim countries especially in the middle east it would be of interest to them to take up that new MM2H program
Of course. KL is flooded with Arabs. For them its the shopping and high end luxury life in kl they can enjoy at cheaper prices.

If there is a special pass for Singaporeans and Malaysians to stay in Johor and commute from Johor to Singapore, we can reduce the land for residential.

More land can be zoned for commercial and industrial. The companies can lower the cost of operation and expand more easily.

Well, I enjoy staying in airbnb condos in different places, sometimes with seaview, sometimes with nice decor. Its really good to live in different private properties in different places :) Only thing quite annoying is can't keep a pooch as I am only staying only 3months each time.

I ain't celebrity or influencer or rich, they want to cam me, I will be more than flattered :) Another thing, never seen any ghosts throughout my nomadic lifestyle, will be pleased to see one so that I can confirm I am not merely a product of evolution.

Just rent. U dont nid to purchase a property to get mm2h 5 yrs visa.
This is the exact concern I want to clarify. How do you guys gather from the released information so far that Silver (or any tier) is allowed to rent indefinitely or at least for the duration of the mm2h pass in the case of silver and gold instead of buy a property? My concern is one may be allowed to rent within the 1st year when the fd is locked in but subsequently have to buy after the lock in period is over when one is able to withdraw up to 50% for the approved spend. I only want to rent and not buy a property. Also does anyone have an idea what the FD rates are for the deposit?

According to real experts who handle the applications, look like the requirements are not clear cut and not as rosy as it seems.

Mainly no details on whether overseas income and liquid assets required.

Those with high networth will rather pr in other places than Malaysia so the 5 million ringgit tier is moot.

These paragraph also caught my eye.

In the meantime, she added that the couple will continue commuting from Singapore to Johor Bahru via social visit pass to visit their home.

However, Alter Domus’ Mr Ch’ng warned that foreigners who stay in Malaysian property for long stretches without a long-term visa risk running afoul of Malaysian immigration laws and could get their identities blacklisted and barred from entry.

He explained that under Malaysia immigration laws, foreigners with no long-term visas are not permitted to stay in Malaysia for longer stretches than the duration they stay outside of Malaysia.

“For example if (a person on social visit pass) stays (for) 28 days in Malaysia, you have to stay outside the country for 29 or 30 days before you can come back in. If not, your travel pattern might raise alarm bells and you might be barred from entry,” said Mr Ch’ng.

“I think Singaporeans who own property should apply (for MM2H) because there's always that peace of mind and comfort of knowing that you are not breaking the law,” he added.

Meaning those who owned properties or intend to retire in Malaysia, you will need a long term visa and can't use the 60 days visa to stay there for too long.

This further ascertains me that buying a property in Malaysia might put the person in a situation which can be moulded by policies that can be amended by the Malaysian govt's will.

I won't be surprised either that maybe some PRCs working in SG would rent a property in JB as a weekend house only since they have this privilege now of 30 days visa free in JB/Malaysia. They will figure it out how to do it I guess and maybe for them is still worth it.

I really don't understand what is their real agenda...if they want to make a good place for retirement or attract foreign talents or simply wants foreign revenue investment this is not it.

Bali is a more attractive place to retire and invest with USD18000 only..

Indonesia offers five-year multiple-entry visas to attract more visitors

JAKARTA: Indonesia announced a new policy on Thursday (Dec 21) that offers five-year multiple-entry visas to foreigners who want to visit the country for tourism or business reasons.

The policy, which took effect on Wednesday, is part of the government’s efforts to increase the number of foreign visitors and stimulate the economy, said immigration chief Silmy Karim.
