Indonesia offers five-year multiple-entry visas to attract more visitors

Thursday, 21 Dec 2023 9:16 PM MYT

JAKARTA: Indonesia announced a new policy on Thursday (Dec 21) that offers five-year multiple-entry visas to foreigners who want to visit the country for tourism or business reasons.

The policy, which took effect on Wednesday, is part of the government’s efforts to increase the number of foreign visitors and stimulate the economy, said immigration chief Silmy Karim.

Indon? I tink can forget about FH properties for foreigners. Even 99 yr lease also tough. And their requirement for 5 yrs visa would not be as attractive as Msia. Just wait further updates

Just rent will do no need to buy in Indonesia unless you marry a local there :ROFLMAO:.

I remember in the early 90s Indonesia would stamp on your passport 3 months social visit visa :ROFLMAO:. Many visitors from Europe and other western countries backpacking there.

Malaysia eases rules for retirement residency visa but piecemeal announcement has wealthy foreigners holding off

"However, Alter Domus’ Mr Ch’ng warned that foreigners who stay in Malaysian property for long stretches without a long-term visa risk running afoul of Malaysian immigration laws and could get their identities blacklisted and barred from entry.

He explained that under Malaysia immigration laws, foreigners with no long-term visas are not permitted to stay in Malaysia for longer stretches than the duration they stay outside of Malaysia.

“For example if (a person on social visit pass) stays (for) 28 days in Malaysia, you have to stay outside the country for 29 or 30 days before you can come back in. If not, your travel pattern might raise alarm bells and you might be barred from entry,” said Mr Ch’ng.

“I think Singaporeans who own property should apply (for MM2H) because there's always that peace of mind and comfort of knowing that you are not breaking the law,” he added."

This guy is not the official spokesman for the Malaysian govt. He is just the agent for mm2h applications. There is no rule that you have to stay outside msia for longer than you have spent in msia on social visit pass. Yes you may get questioned but I have never heard ppl getting banned from entry for travelling too frequently. This guy is just csbing

Yes you may get restricted or denied entry if you travel too frequently... but banned outright is unheard of. Only happens in the most extreme cases. If you take short breaks in between multiple visa runs or do not stay for a very long period, usually they will just let you pass. Of course its better to get the proper MM2H visa now if you really intend to stay long term but if you just want to live in msia sporadically can just use the normal visa to spend 1 or 2 month each time in malaysia.

Maybe you can just try visa running for a start and if you run into problems then consider applying for MM2H for the official visa

2 days nia. :s13:
Yes. Short trip. Two separate trips in that year 2010. Club Med in Bintan first. Then second trip to Batam. Stayed in a Hotel in Nagoya and did some shopping and ate some f&b there. Nothing that really interest me in Bintan and Batam unlike in Java, Bali and Lombok further east of Indonesia.

Officially or pay cash renew?
Officially a business visa. Well if you have money sometimes for a traveller wanting to extend their stay after 3 months they can do that at the immigration Office. But most usually don't do that. They would fly out from Indonesia and return to Indonesia around 3 weeks to 1 month later. Then get another 3 months visa back then in the 90s.

Now they only offer 30 days visit visa. There were problems the immigration faced like foreigners overstaying in Indonesia.

I don't encourage that but some would do that. However, when you do that once then later whenever they need some more cash they would come looking for you and if you don't oblige then they would threaten you or make your life difficult.
