First, I said that the "facts" about everyone (notice I did not say auntie about this) was harping on was wrong. The dispute was over $80 of deposit; but everyone (again not auntie) was harping on she cannot afford $80 tuition fees which many blamed the RC. See how diff these two are. Secondly, what she alleges against the rudeness of the RC is not factual unless corroborated with evidence. What you have is first-auntie-said-vs-second-auntie-said.
I think perhaps you got the facts wrong. Right from the beginning, the issue has been the arrogance of the RC staff. It's not about whether the auntie couldn't afford the money. The issue, right off the bat, was she was telling Nicole about her financial situation, and how she was treated in a humiliating way by the RC staff. You insinuated that the auntie lied about the facts (hence your harping about wrong facts), and Nicole didn't verify the facts before she should cry (sounds weird) was being unfair to the RC volunteer. The allegation was way off the mark. The online community (eg, yourself) wanted to take it in a different way, it's beyond anyone's control.
Please don't attempt to drag in debaters at personal level with your "I'm surprised your thinking is so much in sync with the volunteer. Do you have the same experience as the volunteer, that's why you're so pek chek? How do you know the volunteer is telling the truth? Have you verified with her? Or do you know her personally and can vouch for her integrity?" Do you want me to turn this around and ask you if you had work 25 years as volunteer? Facts remained that her "rude" treatment was her words against the RC. Show me otherwise.
Just because you haven't been served in a bad way, you cannot assume that for others. A bad service is a bad service. You must be a really lucky guy to have been receiving great services from service staff your whole life. You are not in the position of people who are financially poor and asking for help.
We are talking about a person who was not well treated. And you want proof?
In any service industry, if such incident were to emerge, the service provider would quickly go into service recovery mode. Instead, what do you see? The RC volunteer came out all defensive and angry? Doesn't she know what service is all about? How should I be convinced that she treated the auntie well in the first place?
It's not important how a service provider treats the customer. It is how the customer was made to feel that was the key.
Or you're suggesting that the auntie lied to Nicole?
Something that rubbed you the wrong way was that Nicole cried and that made the RC volunteer looked bad. Look, I hate to repeat: Nicole was told a sad story and she cried. If you want to read anything beyond this, well, it's your life.
As for Nicole, you are going on negative offensive. I had postulated two possible reasons, one being a newbie. If you prefer to focus on the second possible reasons, that's your prerogative. Let me ask the question plain and simple again. Why did she not then and there volunteer to either give or lend her $80 at the moment? I think Chiam would have. Empathy was beside the point. Pointing out her empathy does not come even close to answering the question, it only explains her crying, which is not the question. Focus. Cool it with the emo and let's do this objectively.
We don't know what help she has offered. It doesn't mean we should assume that she didn't offer to help. What was not shown on the video doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Besides, in all honesty, forking out the money to help is not the solution. She does not print money.
