The screen of my Switch is spoiled le. I was suggested to buy a new one instead of reparing it. Will the cost actually be cheaper and will my data be gone?

All save data is stored locally on the Switch unless you have NSO sub and online saves enabled. But I guess you can always dock it to transfer the data off without a working screen.
