i am very sure that the new firmware is screwing up the batt life... why? cause i tried charge 100% turn on wifi and left it there untouch on standby for 2 hours.. after which i turn it on again. batt life still 100%

after i turn off wifi and charge again to max and discharge and let data runs... left it there again for 2 hours... 100% to 85% in 2 hours time on standby mode...

unfortunately nothing we can do unless we flash other firmware. After using android for so long, the next update to fix this would be another 6 months away imo lol

Without rooting, u can also disabled those unwanted apps right?

You can try using System Panel - they have the ability to disable apps (bloatware) without having to uninstall them

hi there,

just to share an observation, ive rooted and ive used the perseus kernel, seems that the default kernel yields better results for me in terms of battery life.

using the default hongkong rom, LJ4, i am able to get 5hours + of on screen time @ 40% brightness. whatsapp, constant fb and internet surfing etc.

this phone is quite beastly with its battery life. absolutely no regrets getting it

i noe that going around NUS, where there is constant raging switching of Starhub H+ to LTE back and forth, kills my battery super fast :s13: :s13:

My battery drained about 20-25% while i was asleep last night.
Slept with batt at 75% and woke up it was 48%.

I fell asleep while watching a video online. But i paused it before i slept.
This morning when i unlocked my phone, i was still at the video screen.

Could that be the reason for the massive drainage?

There was once I went into Sushi Express at City Link, initially the reception was quite all right despite me being seated right at the back corner. But for some reason, at some point, I noticed my whatsapp messages had gotten stuck, and I saw the Starhub signal jumping rapidly between H+ and 3G, staying on each signal for max 1 sec. Seriously I jitao sweat when I saw my signal going crazy. Then I restart my Note 2... and realised there's zero data connection liao. Not even a G. I was like... oh ****....

Even after I stepped out of the restaurant, the data connection didn't come back at all. In the end after waiting in vain for about 15min, I switched off my phone and let it rest for a few minutes before I switch it on again..... and phew, the H+ came back. Till now I still don't know what temporarily killed my modem sia.

Yes - go to your battery group and check the "stay awake" portion...you should see that your phone was "awake" even though you are asleep...

So if you leave an app running, it prevents the phone from going into sleep and hence the CPU is still active...

Ideally, your phone should be asleep when the screen is off...hahah

I think so too - something trying to call home :s13:

Jokes aside, it seems to be a common problem with Starhub

It also happens to me a couple of times, especially after I alight from the plane...and it's with different phones

It would take like forever to register on the network whereas every Tom, Dick and Harry (probably not on StarHub) would have their SMS alerts going off like chimes :s22:

or you can set it manually by pressing and holding the off button. a pop up will ask you if you want to switch off, restart or set to airplane mode.

I think instead of simply sharing how many hours your phone has last been charged, it would be more relevant to share your screen on time. because what really drains the battery is the screen and not the apps. (unless you have rogue apps).

Every day, i find that my battery would reach 20% in roughly 8hr+ of screen on time. during which i'll be constantly smsing, whatsapping, checking emails, instagram, surfing twitter or the net and whatever not, I usually will not leave my phone alone for too long. therefore in my case, i would say that the battery even though it has higher mAh than the iPhone4 (in my case), they would be on par in terms of usage. Because, i still find myself charging my phone/swapping batteries twice a day (7hrs on screen time). Thankfully i have gotten an extra battery and the external battery charger.

Batteries aside, I still prefer my note 2 when compared to the iPhone 4. I hope nobody here bought the note 2 simply cause the battery was the biggest. LOL. Bigger screen, faster processor, lighter, better aesthetics... anyone would choose the note 2 over iPhone. unless, they are gong taos.

I don't know if this only happens to me. I realised that my Note 2 stays "awake" more than in deep sleep when in Wifi than 4G/3G. Battery seems to drop faster in Wifi mode. Does this happen to anyone else? Any solutions to it?

Think it's because your apps are always syncing on their own

Try to restrict the auto sync for non-essential apps bah

If you aren't running any app but your data icon is always lit up, then there's traffic and once there's traffic, your phone can't sleep

That was the case for my S3 until I tweaked it
