hi all, im thinking of joining ntuc membership before i took up the some courses to enjoy their $500/yr Union Training Assistance Programme benefits.

But i heard from my friend that if i intend not to renewal the membership in the future, i will have to provide valid reason before cancellation and cannot terminate as i like..or might have to pay back the benefits. is it true?

My experience:
My ex-co is in mfg industry, I was an exec then. Was invited by the liaison person there to join, so I joined. Only thing I used it for was point from fairprice, and I did not take any course to have teh subsidy, benefit.

then I changed job. decided to cancel membership since it is basically a waste of money for me. called Plus progamme, was told that I have to call NTUC membership, called that, was told that I need to call the union that I signed up with. Called that, was told that the notification period is 3 months. Felt fed up, I just called my bank to cancel the Giro transfer. Subsequently still received calls from them, asking why I want to cancel membership... found it irritating.

Plus! - OCBC Plus! Visa Benefits

its 5% now. No need to carry two cards liao (maybank fc and ntuc plus to earn link points)

Anyway, some good points this card has include the group insurance coverage. and cheaper term plan(LUV). But we are paying a membership fee of $108/yr for it.

LOL.. :D

ohhh... only housebrand? last time is 8% only on housebrand and only for $10 above... so now dont need minimum spend?

FAQ not accurate. u can kill 1 bird with 2 stone
use maybank card/or SCB singpost card to earn 5-6% and use NTUC plus to collect link points at the same time

This FAQ says cannot use...
true?

NTUC Plus! Credit, Debit & Supplementary card FAQs

When I make purchases at NTUC FairPrice or LinkPoints merchants, can I use the NTUC Plus! Card to earn the LinkPoints but use another credit/debit card for payment?

No. you cannot. You can only use one card to pay for your purchases and to earn LinkPoints. The same card must be used to pay for your purchases and to earn LinkPoints.

Yes u can. Union members earn linkpoints no matter what card they use.

I just apply the NTUC Plus! Visa Credit... waiting for the card now.

Question is how the to get the $30 cash rebate for recurring payments or EZ-Reload charged to your NTUC Plus! Visa Credit" work?

For example i sign up for the auto EZ-Reload for a $50 credit each time.... then will be get the $30 cash rebate for the 1st Reload i did?

You will rec $10 cash rebate after you pay the $50.25 (25cts admin fee) charged to your card.
I have the understanding of receiving $10 three times since it states "up to $30 cash rebate". So far I have received $10 cash rebate, the rest remains to be seen..

Besides cash rebate, you will get 3x linkpoints. ie 150 linkpoints for $50 charged to your card.

For the benefit of HWZ bros, this is OCBC's reply regarding "$30 cash rebate promo"

The cash rebate will be credited into the principal cardmember’s credit
card account within three months after a successful payment is made. Do
note that subsequent payment to the same billing organisation will not
be considered for the cash rebate. In addition, multiple payments of a
bill (regardless of the number of accounts and/or services indicated in
the bill) are treated as one payment and the cardmember will be eligible
to S$10 cash rebate only.

We hope that the above clarifies.

In others words, PLUS! cardholders have to sign up for 3 different billing organisation for $30 cash rebate. :s8:

Hi guys, I have just got my NTUC Plus! Visa 2 weeks ago and I have few questions, please bear with me
1. I dont see any term mentioning 4% yearly rebate and free insurance people mentioning in page 1 of this thread. it's already obsolete or still have?
2. How to pay the credit card? usually I pay my UOB credit card using UOB ATM, but this OCBC didn't give me any ATM card. I must call them to ask for ATM card or is it true that the CC can be used as ATM card too? if it's true, which saving account it's linked too, to the starter account?
3. the NTUC member fee I paid for 3 months upfront to be qualified for the free gift (still haven't received anything till now btw), so I need to keep track when it's expired or they will send reminder to remind me to pay the member fee? can use the CC to auto renew the member fee?
might have more q but that's all for now :D thanks
