The way they conduct lectures is like you walk in a lecture hall, find a seat. Lecture start -> professor talking -> students talk/sleep/surf web/listen/take notes (varies across students) -> end

The lectures standard time is 2 hours ( Some might be longer but rare ) . Normally they will release you 15 mins before although the regulation is now 30 mins before, but still some will release you on the dot

Tutorial wise, just a small group of like 20 + people in a small room. A tutor (professor or some undergrad or postgrad) will conduct the lesson for 1 hour ( Some might be longer ). The style of teaching of course varies across professors. Some can talk until 2 hours and you have no idea what's going on . That's why some professors are best to avoid while some are good to take

The assessment also varies across professors and modules .

There is thing thing called IVLE where you will be using it frequently ? I hope :o There, you will download your whatever reading materials and stuffs, homeworks, see gradebook, etc.

You will bid your modules during this CORS period. If you go for those introductory talk before your matriculation, they will elaborate more on these.

You will have lab access for most modules. The only thing about the labs is that 80% of the computers start up very slow like a tortoise. So have to be patient.

There's a mac lab with a huge monitor screen! So if you're bored and there's no lesson, can go there and watch movie

Thanks napsterz! So tutorials are also 2 hours? If some professors conduct lessons for only 1 hour, what do we do after that? Is it like in poly where we will present tutorial answers and stuff? :s22:

Most are 1 hour only for tutorials. So far up to now, my tutorials have been 1 hour or rather 45 mins if they keep to the time. But for certain modules, they may have tutorials for more than 1 hour, or rather resemble that of a lab session. It depends.

Yep! You may be ask to present your answers and stuff for some modules in order to gain the participation points (which is around 5% to 10% max)

However, for some modules, you can also sit down there and just listen to the tutor talk. :s22:

oh yar, it's IS I forgot :s13:

Normally only got certain lvl3/lvl4 got such high % for class particpation and almost all of them are d drop smoke bomb modules type...

20% is the more realistic precentage.....

But the CA (anything that is not exam assessement) sometimes can be as high as 80%, though normally should be around (40% - 60%) .....

You want to try courses where participation is srs biz?

I can recommend you a few from Mochtar Riady....

(P.S And I think someone will come in and recommend something more serious than my recommendations)
