ya... 40% group essay (6 pages, topic e.g. the impact of genetically-modified babies), 60% finals (40MCQ, 5 really-short answer questions).

but main thing is to divide the sub topics properly. and to come together to read through, to make the essay more coherent.

I always thought there's not alot of stats major around. Seem like i was wrong. I am the same batch as darkzion and shawn. But i am not taking 2137 this sem.

The essay got points to guide u de. Like e.g. what are the pros and cons, what are your perspectives, impact on singapore society etc.

You can try other gems ba... physics in life science also quite easy. just dun take the math/stats gems.

physics in life science. 30% CA1, 30% CA2 (both are MCQs with negative marking), 40% term paper for a topic such as e.g. dental caries, spider silk fibre, antifreeze proteins (group work, 3 members). No final exam.

GEM2901 is easy yes but it's more "artsy" as compared to GEM2900. Easy means you can't afford to make careless mistakes because the bell curve will kill you. You will see the class size shrink to less than half by the 2nd lecture.

mod that does not start with prefix that come from ur faculty.

note that mod that are crosslisted such as PC1322/GEK15XX

if u bid under PC u will bid with ur P-points, but if u bid under gek u will use ur G-points

Negative marking 1/2 mark for every wrong answer. So if spoilt amongst 3 choices, leave the answer blank. But don't worry la the MCQ quite easy if you got physics background. The bio questions are just memory work.

u can work out the expectation before attempting the question if u dunno the ans.

Assuming the question has 4 options and u r totally clueless about it, the expectation of the mark u will obtain will be (-0.125)

if u r able to eliminate one option leaving behind 3 that u r unsure of, the expectation will be 0.. so u r indifference between answering or leaving the question blank.

if u are able to eliminate 2 option, den the expectation will be 0.25 and hence u sld attempt the question.

Jus choose the one that best suit ur timetable loh.. Cos most likely u will be able to take most of those unrestricted elective that u r interested in during ur 3-4 year stay in nus.

no essay questions at all for physics in life science. both CA1 and CA2 are MCQs. and the term paper is a topic you write about, like a report. The physics and bio questions are manageable A lvl-type questions. quite a popular mod.
