Lol yea loh. It was out briefly at ard 11+ managed to see my result lol. Dunno y they remove it. Skarly the score entered wrongly :(

Yar sia. Wrote wrong formula on cheat sheet minus 2 marks -_- so steep sia. And the distribution not even normal. So concentrated on the right :(

Hey i gt a very fundamental qn for ST2132
For fisher information,
Chap 5 slides 16 : var(didehat)= I(dide)^-1
& But on chap 6 slides 3 , var(didehat)=I(dide)^-1/n
Is it because we r toking abt n samples in 2nd part, which is like var(xbar )while the first one it is like var(x)?

yes. it was due to the sample size n in the 2nd part. however i think you sld not treat it as an analogue to var(X-bar) and var(X) as there is a difference between how the 1/n come about.
For the fisher information case. if u refer to slide 5 of topic 5, I(dide) is defined to be the amount of information in ONE sample. so to find the fisher information, we will always onli consider 1 sample out of the size n. n bcos each sample are iid, the 'total' information can be obtained jus by multiplying it with n, therefore the information will thus become n*I(dide). taking the reciprocal of it, u will get the variance which is = I(dide)-1/n

Is n =sample size =no. of samples with sample size of 1?
Cus it damn confusing when we toking abt 1 sample, r we toking abt a sample wif size 1?

boded part is not true i think. all the cases that had been gone through in lecture/tutorial refers to a sample of size n. but when we calculate the fisher information, we concentrate on onli 1 out of these n samples and then multiply it by n later, for reason stated above.

disclaimer: all that have been said are based on my understanding which may or may not be correct, if there r any mistakes plz feel free to point out n criticize.

Academic advice required

Hello, fellow student year seeking academic advice, right now i am in NS thinking about life and hope to seek advice! :)

I did PCME/GP and H3 Math in A levels and got all A. I have a decent aptitude in Math(also joined math olympiad and stuffs) and do read widely beyond A levels.
So I was wondering about the following options and i want to know which route is best for me if i aspire to work in finance.

1) NUS QF- a bit risky i think if i cant make it into QF, don't really know much about the math programmes in NUS also(whether its good)
2) NTU Math and Econs- sounds like what i want to do because both play to my strength(which is math), just wondering if this course is good
3) NUS Business- Just staying to the safe track, maybe do another major and maybe purse a MQF
4) NUS Econs - is the programme good also? i heard its more qualitative than quantitative but i could be wrong.

i would also like to know if business is a good degree and whether it is heavy in mathematics. the proes out there, especially current QFers/ Biz students, please advise me! :D
