What would be the most elegant solution to watch dvb-t2 broadcast on my dvb-t1 TV which I bought about 2 years back. I have mio TV which I seldom use as I hate having to power another box just to watch FTA channels.

Are there any USB dongle type receiver which I can plug direct to my TV. Also which indoor antenna on the market have the smallest footprint with good reception?

I still cannot understand why mda cannot get starhub to transmit dvb-t2 from their cable point. Using an external antenna seems like going back to the old days where each household have an antenna perched precariously outside their balcony. I understand the new digital antenna are relatively small but still can't help but feel a little archaic.

Sent from Xiaomi MI 4I using GAGT

I have a TBS5220 with the provided antenna.
Using TBSViewer and it works fine, can receive Channel 8, etc.

But sometimes the video when watching have stutter or distortions.
Even when record and playback the .ts the video is not 100% free of distortion.

How to make the video quality better? Upgrade antenna?

What kind of stutter or distortion? Any short video clip that u can upload? Anyway, for any aerial antenna reception it is practically impossible to have 100% clear of distortion as sources of electromagnetic interference can come from many surrounding devices. :o

But my TV is dvb-t1. How to receive dvb-c signal?

Sent from Xiaomi MI 4I using GAGT

Need to have another set top box (either DVB-T2 or DVB-C) to receive the signals and output HDMI to the TV.

Although overall the video quality is rather good, around 0:23 there got some minor distortion which I mentioned.

This one is normal. Because of the aerial nature of the DVB-T2 signal, anytime a large vehicle drives past or starts engine, or airplane flies past, it has the potential to disrupt the signal momentarily. Some wireless devices too can disrupt the signal, like mobile phones, wireless adapters, etc.

yup ... those things create alot of harmonic frequencies

airplanes, especially those fighter jets

i've even seen the signal being corrupted by nearby jackhammers :s22:

Thanks for the input. Sounds like I can't pretty much do anything about it?

Nevertheless the video quality is good, just gotta enjoy my shows. :o

Btw that was recorded on laptop. But then, the TV doesn't have such problem?

What is the advantage of this one over the other type of tuner, like Hauppauge 292E DVB-T2 USB Tuner?

This TBS5281 supports DVB-C too, which can receive those signals from the StarHub antenna point.

Just got this TBS5281 DVB-T2/T/C Dual Tuner TV USB Box. Setup every thing ok however when scan for signal, only 610.00Mhz detected so only CH5 CH8 CNA CH5(HD). Tried few other TV programs non able to detect channels DVB-T2 (522.00 - 570.00MHz) range :(
My area Kallang supposed to be ready and am using a powered antenna UHF channels 21~69 (470~862 MHz) also. Sian not able to watch CH U digital.

Check the package and the device. Does it say DVB-T2-lite? If it doesn't have the "lite" it does not comply with the updated DVB-T2 v1.3.1 which MediaCorp is using.
