As indicated in the title, any recommendations that are compatible with tvheadend, kodi, nextpvr? Thanks!

tvheadend on linux? Try Geniatech/Mygica T230.

I also using TBS5220 but don't like it as the linux drivers are not integrated into mainline kernel. Have to compile out of tree kernel driver from TBS.

Huh? Is starhub intermittently leaving encryption off these channels?

Usually for a period of time and not always the same channels~ however there's two channels (other than mediacorp channels and supersports arena) hv been left non-encrypted for many yrs, one is Lifetime and the other is Karaoke~ :s22:

What DVB software are you running on? I know certain option like not using "Microsoft Standart Tuning" will cause BSOD.

don't have to buy anything, just run kodi with mr networktv addon, you will have all tv channels from singapore, malaysia, indonesia and many other countries.

I am using the tuner as DVB-C, it couldn't decode properly with
DVB-T2 (signal is very bad even though mediacorp website says my side has coverage).

At first i use totalmedia that comes with it. It couldn't detect channel 5 HD. Strangely it also has problem decoding the SD channels (channel 5/8/U etc), but no problem with the HDs channels.

Then i use DVBViewer, now i can get all channels, including ch5 HD. It has the same issue that SD channels cannot decoded.
So now i am able to view all the channels except channel U (Still on SD).

Using software other than totalmedia is more missed than hit.
When it's mood is good, everything works as normal.
When it's mood is neutral, nothing shows on the dvbviewer.
When it's mood is bad, it causes BSOD (apc_index_mismatch).

I don't have issue with DVB-T2 using my own antenna, I was using MATV before but the reception gotten bad ever since the roof ceiling became a solar farm.

As for Totalmedia, try looking for newer version, seem to less problematic than the provided one.

So far DVBViewer and DVB Dream work without much issue, a number of DVB app cause BSOD upon using it.

Can try scanning by the exact frequency. There was a chart somewhere. Anyway, here are the frequencies in MHz (may not be accurate...)

DVB-C
642 MHz : Ch 5, Ch 8, Suria, Vasantham, Ch U, CNA (all SD)
562 MHz : Okto (SD)
370 MHz : CH 5 (HD)
514 MHz : Ch 8,Suria, Vasantham, Okto, CNA (all HD)

DVB-T2
538 MHz : Ch 5, Suria (all HD)
554 MHz : Ch 8, Vasantham (all HD)
570 MHz : Ch U (SD)
570 MHz : Okto, CNA (all HD)

DVB-T (still available?)
610 MHz : Ch 5, 8, CNA (SD)
610 MHz : Ch 5 (HD)

Channel U is still SD and not HD.
As for unable to decode, SD channels use different video codec. You need to download and install LAV Filters. Just select all if you are unsure.

Oh, i noticed that i can watch Okto (SD).
I highly doubt is codec issue, cos i remember i did installed the LAV filters and still facing the issue.
The SD channels that i have issues are all on 642MHz.
So maybe my tuner has problems with channel on 600+ MHz

Actually, if you use a PVR fronted like Kodi, do you still need the LAV filters or does it use Kodi's own decoder?

Ch U still SD only? :s22:

Can go read Wikipedia about Ch U origin and history. Anyway, it is supposed to go HD this year.

My theory is that MediaCorp intends to follow the "by 2016" to the letter, meaning 31 December 2016.

Ch U was started by MediaCorp's rival the SPH-started MediaWorks, then transferred to MediaCorp when MediaWorks merged into MediaCorp. So MediaCorp treats it somewhat like a step-child.
