Thanks for the info and review.

Are you able to receive FTA using DVB-C? And is it still selling at $99?

Hmm the Starhub TV point is in another room so have not tested - so far DVB-T/DVB-T2 a-ok and crystal clear ^^ Perhaps would update if hook up to Starhub point one day Yes went walk walk @ SLS a few weeks ago still $99

thanks v much for the review!

i read from your review that the picture quality and signal strength is v good from pasir ris? is it no different from watching analog tv currently, in terms of reliability of service and smoothness (no lagging/jerking/freezing frames)? this is of interest to me as I am in tampines, a bit apprehensive about buying these dvb-t2 tuners since the roadmap doesnt show our regions as 'ready'.

from what i research and gather with the 292e i am able to receive and view dvb-t2 FTA channels on my computer, and also record (save) FTA channels to my internal storage (with the use of the relevant free programs like XBMC/Kodi or NextPVR) is it also possible to do scheduled recording of programs? from my understanding, it is not possible to record one FTA channel and watch another FTA channel using this 292e tuner, right?

if i wanted to have the same receiving and (scheduled) recording function on my current TV (which does not have a dvb-t2 tuner inbuilt), then the most economical way is to get a set top box like the draco one? would that allow me to record and save FTA channels to external storage via USB, and watch FTA channel which recording another FTA channel?

1. Yes as reliable and free of stutter/freezes just like analogue TV and even in the days of DVB-T i could clearly see the improvement of Standard Definition of DVB-T channels over analogue so now with HD DVB-T2 the improvement is even more ;) The chart refers to indoor coverage but in my estate i used a DIY antenna hanged near the window and never had issues from day 1

2. Yes i use NPVR as backend and scheduled recording is how i do it 24/7 The 292E is not a dual tuner DVB-T2 device and if you record a DVB-T2 channel you can't watch another DVB-T2 channel. There are dual/triple/quad DVB-T2 tuners out in the market though

3. Well set top boxes come in 2 varieties i think : one just to view and another than has either internal storage or allows external storage to view and record so have to check specs

Do u mean the older now phased out PCI interface tuner? Nowadays DVB-T2 mostly always either PCI-E or USB loh. Also by capture do u mean from a videocam, other set top box, etc? If this is what u mean then ya mostly DVB-T2 with capture capability typically allow you to capture Standard Definition via S-Video, Composite, etc

S-Video, Composite aren't designed to carry HD video signals, no point capturing them in HD, although you can upscale the captured video if you really want it in HD format

perhaps you are looking for this

S-Video and Composite limited to SD loh - you need a capture card with HDMI or Component and most of the DVB-T2 tuners with capture capability unfortunately limited to SD capture hence why that HD PVR was recommended ^^
