Smart switch operating range are for AC mains that’s 220-240V. For led bulbs, it has to support local dimming, or it will not work.

Anyone knows what are the smart lights that are compatible with aqara? Can aqara smart lights work? Heard only can pair frm mainland server.

I have the M2 aqara hub, aqara smart switches and installed Ikea's tradfri gu10 bulbs in my new place.

I currently have tradfri and Philips hue bulbs connected to my philips bridge at my current place. I'll migrate everything over when i move but don't see any issues with the aqara / Philips / tradfri combo.

hope i got your question right. are you asking if the smart bulbs are connected to the light fixture that is controlled by a smart switch?

If so, then yes. That's what i have. Reason for doing so, i like the Philips hue system and since i have it at my current place, I'll just continue to use it. Plus with a smart switch, i don't have to worry about the switch being switched off. i can continue to sit on the sofa and turn it on. plus i can adjust brightness with hue.

only problem is to get hue to recognise the tradfri bulbs. had to use a third party app and touchlink method to get hue to recognise the tradfri bulbs.

why not?

I did the same too. U can control the switches regardless of its state.
with a smart bulb isn't the idea to leave the switch as always "On"? so why is there a need to control the switch itself?

can save power also. Maybe i traditional, I prefer to have physical controls which isn't a rocker and can switch on/off.

you also don't want to have someone coming to your house control the rocker where you ended up having to turn on manually before you can return to your on/off state for the bulbs. It gives you the flexibility too on lights/bulbs.

it doesn't really save power, a smart switch in "off" state also consumes power. understand the visitor scenario, but that seems quite an edge case. the conventional wisdom nevertheless is to go for either smart switch, or smart bulbs, which i can understand doesn't apply to you or comcrepe, but just wanted to leave this out there for the wider audience.

Hello experts, I have purchased my aqara D1 wall switches recently for my new home automation "project". I am looking to purchase the Philips 6100 door lock too. However, I want to automate on-ing of my lights and aircon. Would it require a specific brand or model of digital lock? Or any will do? Appreciate any inputs :)

Hi @swanage18
Yes, you're correct - Aqara is integrated to Google home.

Of course - there are 3rd party providers for that - e.g Home @uto. It will cost more though

There are many other switches that you can get besides Aqara - the Tuya switches are gaining traction here in this thread too.

For aircon - you just need a IR blaster only - no need for M2
There are cheap IR blaster out there - around $10:

Curtain motor/ tracks from Taobao or online is alrite. There are contractor in Carousell that does smart curtains - you can check them out.

For Aqara if you get the international version (and connected to their OTHERS server) - response time will be better. For Mi Home to function well - you'll have to connect to their China server which will be quite laggy.

Can a kind soul help me understand how I can integrate an IR blaster (such as the one commented above) to the Aqara home?
Many thanks.
