anyone have Yale locks connected to their hub?

Read HWZ Forum Rules!

I did use yale ydr210 lock that paired with smartthings hub (RIP thanks samsung), which later I paired to z-wave stick to use with homeassistant.
Anyway that lock's prone to some weird issues like keypad not responding/lock/unlock as well as remote unlock/lock with z-wave. I had 2 of these and eventually both just not working after a while

Hi guys, just asking here
Anyone could help me out buying these ikea remote/dimmer?
1. dimmer- https://www.ikea.com/sg/en/p/tradfri-wireless-dimmer-white-50408600/
2. symfonisk remote volume - https://www.ikea.com/sg/en/p/symfonisk-sound-remote-black-70433788/
I intend to use them for some custom action as zigbee switch in homeassistant
I'm in malaysia now, and none of these tradfri are available here
I tried buying on ikea from other region to use with forwarder but they seem to not accept payment from foreign credit cards also

Hi guys. For those using aqara, are there any compatible UK smart plug? I am not keen on using a universal adaptor to put over the aqara smart plugs.

Hi all, I connected TUYA IR RF controller for my Dooya curtain RF remote (DIY remote). it worked fine in Smart Life app but when i tried to connect to google home, the icons appeared but have no function to open and close. I tried to link and relink the app several times but still doesn't work. The other normal IR remote controls in Smart Life connects successfully to google Home.

The issue is with the IR RF controller in smart life app not able to pass the functions to google home. There could be a workaround or wait for the app developer to implement the functions.

Voice assistants such as Google home and alexa have such issues where some functions from the smart devices are only available on their native apps.

Hi all, not sure this was shared before. I have this smart gas heater Macro MA-10WFE installed from citygas. They are using iappliances app (tuya/smart life rebanded) to control it. And it can be controlled with voice commands from Google assistant! A new nice addon to my smart home!

Since I have nest mini in my toilet, the ability to adjust the temperature with voice while doing cleaning is quite useful to me. The in app timer to auto off/on is good to have depending on your use case.

Can also see the usage consumption in app.👍

Depends whether you want your different smart home devices to be able to communicate with other other. Aqara m2 hub is just meant for aqara products while SmartThings hub bring different brands of devices together. Of course there are other hub based solution that is able to do that central management as well.

Your 2nd question no idea you are referring to smart home hubs or wifi mesh since these are two very different thing.

Can check out these ceiling fans, https://eco-airx.com/
i think they look quite nice.

thanks for the response.

my aim is to be able to control all lights in the house ( via smart switch), ceiling fans ( smart wifi fan), video doorbell( either Ring or google nest ), security cameras via physical switches as well as google home. I will want to use google nest hub to view doorbell and cameras as well as control individual devices.

would using Aqara switch and hub works for me ?

second question is whether i need a separate hub for each level of the house or just one hub is sufficient for whole house ?

Aqara switch and hub will only cover your first requirement. It's good you already know what products you want to use to achieve each of these different smart home capability, they will definitely work by itself in silos. Then you gotta ask yourself whether you are going to create any automation that requires these devices to work with each other. For example, I have an automation set that when my RING doorbell is pressed, it will turn on one of my aqara smart switch for 10s then switch it off. To achieve that, you need sorta an integration solution, smartThings is an example that is able to achieve that. So it depends on your needs.

For your 2nd question, i assume you are asking about zigbee network. It is hard to tell how many hubs you need because the placement of it together with your other zigbee devices matter. Zigbee networks uses a mesh topology where the devices are able to communicate with one another directly to form a big wireless mesh zigbee network. For smartThings, there are repeaters that you can put in to extend and relay the signals, similar idea to a wifi extender. You can always just buy 1 hub and test it out first.

@Evilbear thanks for the advice ! Are you the owner of Alex Teo YT channel ? Am learning much from that channel !

Yes i might want to create automation for all the devices to work with each other.
How would this be achieved ?

yeah I am Alex Teo lol.

You need to pick a smart home solution that is able to do that. Google home definitely is not able to, alexa can do that with some limitation but is extremely easy to configure. Apple homekit, smartThings, homey, hubitat, home assistant are some of the good and powerful solutions. But they might not be easy to setup for people who has zero IT knowledge. It is something like choosing a linux vs windows OS for your PC. Gotta do your own research and pick the solution that best fits your profile and requirements, no right or wrong answer.

thanks Alex.
I noticed you used a smartthings hub instead of Aqara M2 hub. would that be a better choice as it would support more devices of different brands ?

Definitely, plus i don't need to headache the region settings on aqara hub. But the aqara E1 smart blind is unable to integrate to smartThings, there might be other devices as well. The aqara M2 hub can double as an IR blaster so there is always some use for it.
