hi gurus,

Anyone with Aqara D1 3 gang switches managed to make it work with SmartThings hub?
Also those with xiaomi sensors, will those be disconnected frequently when used with Smarthings hub?

Thanks - am thinking of switching - wanted to try something outside Homekit

Thanks

I don't have 3gang switches so can't comment, I feel like abit overkill of number of switches if you are using 3gang. My xiaomi sensors never get disconnected. You just need to make sure you move the devices right beside the hub when doing the pairing. Once added successfully then you place them at the spot you want.

How come wanna switch out of Homekit?

Definitely, plus i don't need to headache the region settings on aqara hub. But the aqara E1 smart blind is unable to integrate to smartThings, there might be other devices as well. The aqara M2 hub can double as an IR blaster so there is always some use for it.
thanks.
Maybe next time can do step by step video on how to make Aqara switch work with smartthings ? lol

Hi @Evilbear (Alex), I read that the 3 gang switches are not supported in IDE. Also read about the xiaomi sensor getting disconnected all the time. That’s something i wanna avoid

Homekit is ok - am using homepod mini as hub. device status sometimes lags abit. No big deal - but gets abit confusing. I also use homebridge to link up the ring doorbell. Not really usable. Can’t trigger anything when doorbell is pressed. So thinking if smarthings is the better hub. Thought of home assistance too.
Btw - the aqara stuff that r now linked to ur smarthings - any firmware support from smartthings? Or u’ll have to use the aqara apps to update firmware

It's more of a xiaomi problem, how their devices work.

I am curious to see how homebridge compares with SmartThings Groovy & WebCore. But at least apple has such a platform unlike google and alexa. Basically for firmware I apply the IT admin mindset, don't touch anything if it is working fine, whenever there is problem then go update.

I'm trying to reduce my renovation costs.

Is it possible to do smart switches 1 year after we have moved in?

How much budget do I need to do simple smart home setup?

Xiami Aqara smart switch cost around $8-$10 ea only.

if you do later, need make sure your switch size is similar else may need patch wall when you replace ?

hmm i haven't found an aqara switch that is at that price range. cheapest i've found was around 30 sgd for a 1 gang non-neutral switch.

Please share lobang if really got 8-10 dollar switches

hey guys, looking to change out my existing switches to smart switch.

just need it to on/off, no dimming required. rocker type switches preferred

will need to integrate with google home. HomeKit optional.

I reckon Moes is the most cost effective way to go?

costs perspective, Moes. Tuya is a relatively cheaper system.

reputable, aqara but require a hub.
