detailed steps to replicate this please

I wish I knew how it happened. I can only attribute it to perhaps I have been keying the passcode with the mask sitting on my face at the sweet spot. Could be through AI learning that now my phone recognises me with my mask on.

The success rate drops a little to perhaps 80% if I use the surgical mask. With cloth mask, it's almost 100% and the only time it doesn't work is when my glasses are fogged up.

Anyway, I found a link that shows the workaround to unlocking using Face ID with mask. You can check it out if you want.

Its not just about bluetooth. Many ppl wrongly assume Trace Together runs in the background like most apps. It doesn’t. To work Trace Together must always be on ie the screen must be there all the time.

So those using auto screenlock will need to disable & leave Trace Together on permanently. That’s literally leaving your phone’s screen on the entire day. Why wouldn’t battery life take a huge hit?

To avoid this issue u are told to turn the phone upside down to activate the app’s power saving mode as seen below.

Except that’s crap & barely saves any battery life.

There is a lot of confusion I agree. There is a reason why the TT app gives pointers on keeping the phone flat on the ground or place in your pocket with the screen facing the outer pocket to prevent accidental presses.

Don’t see a good reason to upgrade to 13.5 this time round. I’ll probably hold for now.

Leveraging API will be fine with Bluetooth on. If the App itself has it own mechanism then will be different story, and usually will need to consume more resources then API or framework.

Think the main advantage for this version is when wearing masks, phone much quicker switch to passcode. If we are going out more and more (likely after June?) - will surely feel the difference...

Germany, Switzerland, Latvia, and Estonia said to have adopted Apple/Google API

Still waiting for our trace together app to adopt Apple/Google API. :s22:

“The Apple and Google collaboration on digital contact tracing solutions, is a game-changer, as we said previously. It will significantly improve the contact tracing capability available to governments and public health authorities over what is available through public APIs on either Android or iOS platforms. We are glad that Apple and Google are engaging governments and public health authorities around the world, including us, to incorporate feedback as the specifications for their contract tracing protocol and private APIs.

We will continue to work with both companies to improve our digital contact tracing app, TraceTogether, using the new APIs, to support Singapore's pandemic response.“

Singapore is slow lah as always. This API has been out some beta and they have yet to try it out. It will take weeks for them to roll out with this new api.
