u might have missed this... temasek dun manage a 300k portfolio... for example, u hoot ara big time... but they cant... even if they bought 100% shares of ara, impact to their overall profitability is relatively much smaller to than ur portfolio.

Do not quite agree with this statement, Temasek hire professional fund managers and they have loads of them, including professional services the number rivaling those from tier 1 global banks. But they are not generating returns near what these global banks are generating. Why?? Making acquisitions not with returns as an objective?

SATS was sold down...I hope there will be good news for investors 😆

if looking at 1 year chart, i feel that sats is still high

https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=S58.SI#symbol=S58.SI;range=1y

valuations wise

http://www.sharesinv.com/S58/

PE 23.8 seems on the high side, but yield of 3.2% is decent for blue chip

those interested in SATS or SIA Engineering can look at SIA instead

http://www.sharesinv.com/C6L/

13% discount to book value and yield 4.6 % is attractive
also SIA is the majority shareholder of both SATS and SIAE

A much value play for sure

Temasek paid so much salary to those stupid scholars yet they only make 6% returns over the decade... its such low returns

there are billion dollar hedge funds in US that make 10-20% returns... easily 2 to 3 times of what T made...

that's why some countries the sovereign wealth funds, they don't invest themselves... they slice up their portfolio and park the $$$ into ETFs and hedge funds

I just trying to say that, when temasek buys a stock in open market... it may not be wise to follow temasek's trades...
temasek has a poor/weak track record

I strongly advise investors to totally ignore what T is doing and focus on doing your own research

read more research reports, read more annual reports

that's how u grow and find undervalued stocks

Was looking at sia eng. Top line is dropping. aircraft maintenance is changing. New aircraft model require less maintenance.

Din know sia is below book. Wasn't interested cos its margin is very little. But below PB is a good consideration

They are the biggest AM, double of its nearest rival state street. Great company for clients but not for employees

yeah SIA below book, so may be its cheap

looking at their dividend history

https://www.dividends.sg/view/C6L

payout is quite erratic... so the risk is higher

SIA may be a good bet if one thinks oil will continue to stay low at $40-50 range

but if oil goes to $60 or higher... guess it will surely hurt airline companies like SIA

Not sure about SIA, airlines are in a similar situation as telcos. You need them but they can no longer generate value. At least telcos are less volatile

Warren Buffett reversed his long time dislike of airlines stock by buying AA, UA and Delta last month. Wonder why he changed his mind after the bad investment way back in the 1980s for US Airways.

Why is Warren Buffett Investing in Airlines?
After nearly three decades of claiming the industry is a terrible place to invest, the Oracle of Omaha recently purchased shares in several major airlines -- is this a major shift?
