Singtel tech will test out the set top box with their own router and see if it works. They won't provide support to your own 3rd party router.

Anyway! If u choose manual settings, u need to choose tagged instead of untagged.

Coming to the presets, choose singtel others and do a reboot of your router. Then attempt again..

If not, check if you have any error message of purely no picture?

status lights on the STB also don't indicate anything wrong.

I would suggest a reset of your set top box. Probably the firmware is corrupted.

To reset the set top box, hold down the power button on the set top box and it will reboot. Keep doing that until you see the big gear icon on your TV screen. Then the firmware will be automatically downloaded and install. If your connection to router is not active, the process will be aborted and you'll be safe as well.

1. The Silver Motorola one can only output 1080i at best. The black Cisco one can output at 1080p.

2. I had my silver Motorola one exchanged to the black Cisco one.

Singtel is reluctant to change their STBs.
The Motorola one is their 1st generation box (since 2007). Technology has advanced so much in the last 10 years; yet the Motorola box is still being installed in most homes. They will not change it even if you re-contract.

Well in my opinion, it's not obvious that one is using 1080p or 1080i. As much as most modern TV are HD ready or even 4k ready, changing from 1080i to 1080p is not very much of a difference i would say. From fhd to 4k, you will then be surprised..

Looking forward to 4k output if there is..

I agreed with this. I am talking more about the firmware / software of the STBs.
I have used the Motorola model before - lagging and freezed at times. I believed firmware/software upgrade should solve the problem. 2 mins+ bootup - I believed newer motherboards can help to improve the booting up time.
From FHD to 4K, I doubt it will happen soon, since a lot of TV from source are not 4K.

Hi SoleCorgi,

Yes! It is possible to watch Singtel TV via Singtel TV GO at a temporary accommodation, and cast it to your TV screen with Chromecast.

Please note however a temporary connection would mean the Singtel TV GO is not streaming on your subscribed Fibre Home Bundle network. Therefore the channels available will be limited to On-The-Go mode.

Hope this clarifies.

I think now cannot already. Still need FTP to provide SingTel tv signal but you can always activate 2nd port for VQ.

But since you are talking about VQ, head over to their threads and read up Hor. Don't say you don't know and ended up going for it despite a hooha on HWZ pertaining to VQ..

My singnet fibre 500mbps $55.90 contract ends this coming 27th, i was thinking of trying other internet providers, vq provides US netflix and their one time payment seems very appealing. On the other hand both my FTP are taken up, i need miotv as its the only BPL provider. So i dont really know what to do, singnet is really expensive, 1gbps $49.90 for 2 years contract tied down, where vq one time payment is cheaper $400, in total. Singnet router sucks too. I am a computer noob so i dno such stuffs, about getting better routwr etc

If you are a computer noob, what happens if you need technical help on router provided by 3rd party? You call them and ask huh? At least for SingTel it covers router and offer support over the phone. Moreover the current Arcadyan ac plus router is much better than the previous Aztech imo.

As for what to do with your 2 ports, I think you gotta try to sit down and decide which can stay and which has to leave.. Or you can call SingTel to check if they can provision the SingTel to over analogue lines, which I doubt they will agree for it..

Yeah, the one time upfront payment does seem like a pretty good deal for VQ but it gives you only up to 9 months of Freedom DNS. After that, you'll need to pay a monthly fee of $10.70 if you want to keep it running.

I was using their Freedom DNS for a couple of years. It was good when it worked. But it got pretty irritating when Netflix started blocking proxies. One minute it's working, the next it's not. And the streaming wasn't smooth. The same goes with Hulu and other video providers. After months of getting unsatisfactory experience, I gave up.

One other thing you'll need to note too is that once you're on Freedom DNS, you'll be stuck with the Netflix US catalog of movies/TV shows. It's not a bad thing, but there will be other Asian content (like certain Korean dramas) that you might want to watch in Netflix SG. To do that, you'll have to write to VQ to instruct them to remove you from Freedom DNS. It's not something you can do on your own, so you can't switch between them as and when you like it. You can't have everything.

Actually, Singtel's new router isn't that bad now. They give you an AC Plus router which does give you a fairly good wireless experience. The router that VQ gave me many years ago was kinda sucky cos it came integrated with the fiber modem. Had to manually disable it and buy my own. I was told VQ was going to upgrade my modem months ago into a smaller unit but they still haven't gotten to it. And I've been their loyal customer for years already. I'm not complaining, but sigh.....
