no need ba. cos the additional line is provide mainly for miotv. if yr internet is 10Mbps, than bandwidth is not enough for both usage together.

Bros, I'm thinking of sub Mio TV, and now renovating my new house so i'd like to set everything up nicely before i move in and after reading all the pages here. I digest the ideal case is to have 2 phone lines, one supporting the HD TV and the other supports the internet. In the event that there is a heavy download, the 2nd phone line doesnt freeze up the the HD TV.

Some questions that got me confused,

1) if you have 2 physical line into the house, but you have one jack into the 2wire box, how are we going to make use of the 2nd wire?

1.1)Unless, the 2 physical wire is incorporated into one RJ45? is that it?

2) I'd like to have 2 TVs hook up to 1xMIOTV, which is not possible right? Its just like SCV setup box where u need one TV/box right? (This is kinda stupid question i know, sorry please bear with me)

I also understand that the Attenuation (dB): <7.0.
Corroded Wires/screws/botls are one of the problems for DC issues. so when installing miotv, i have to, ideally, request to lay a new wire

I read this thread again, so on pt 1.1, they are using the RJ11 cable, they are giving 2 phone lines = 2 phone nos. using all the 4 copper wires in the RJ11 cable which goes into 1 jack of the Mio TV? But there are some problems right? its still better to have 2 separate RJ11 cable right? is it?

bro, previously i was facing the exact same issue as you.
1) to make use of 2 phonelines, u must have TWO modems wired or wireless doesnt matter. 1 for miotv box, the other for 2wire (solely for internet). For my case, my existing number in which THREE walljacks in my house are currently using will be continue to be my main house number and run the miotv from my living room.

2) if you want 2 tv watching miotv progs, you can either consult the pros here and a hardware that's able to stream content wirelessly within your hse. (im not sure abt this, just briefly read about it only).
Otherwise u'll need to pay $5.25/mth (exact pricing i cant rmb already, might be more) for a 2nd miotv STB WHICH must be fitted to the same house line that runs your 1st miotv STB.

3) for my case, singtel has agreed to pull in a direct new houseline from outside my house, thus creating a totally new wiring and house no. fortunately my room is very close to my door. currently, my room doesnt has a walljack, i pulled a 15m long phone wire from the adjacent room.

4) let's say if i'm like you, i want my 1st tv in my living room with 1st miotv STB. AND i want a 2nd miotv STB in my room, my room will have 2 phone lines and TWO modems. Which is actually quite troublesome.

As such, singtel tried to convince ppl that a 2wire and a single house line is sufficient for everything. (which is disputable)

I'll look thru the threads here on this thanks for the info

i signed up 2wks ago. and esp i'm a loyal starhub customer that defected over, supposedly they'll "want me" more. starhub really got lousy promos unless u want to watch the scv progs.

anw, i went down to singtel thrice, 1st to ask abt details and discovered they'll give new phoneline, 2nd, to sign up but got REJECTED of the 2nd phone line n some other promos, pissed off so i left.

called up the singtel hotline to raise my issue, the CSO, amazingly said the hello! shop staff is WRONG that singtel for rejecting me the free 2nd house line and another promo. so 3rd time heng heng, hello! shop say everything ok.

torrent oso? 100+ is like my free 1mbps, singtel gave me when i just signed up for miotv. no matter wad i dl, the cap is 120kb/sec.

cant be that slow unless it's your comp settings or perhaps brwoser.. eg. firefox sometimes download slower with the built-in dl app.

Not torrent though, like sometimes movies or files from mediafire, always max at 150+kbps.. I am using firefox but with not much dl app leh..

Maybe tonight i will try to dl 1 same file from IE and FF to see if theres any difference.

Btw, the length of the phone cable will affect it ?? Cos currently I am using quite a long phone cable to plug from the phone point to my modem...

ever since the firmware upgrade, mio stb indeed start up faster. but i noticed, during morning to afternoon timings, 11am-6pm, my mio screen will freeze every 3-5mins for abt 2-3secs each time. and when i press the 4-way key to preview channels, it takes MUCH longer than usual (last time) to show the picture.

any idea? how can i seek help from singtel?

Command your TV with gestures

Hello,

I'm not 100% sure if this works on Mio:

It is a gesture remote command: It uses the webcam to see the user's hand, then it recognizes the gestures and executes the commands...

Please tell me if it works for you: http://tvdimension.com

Thanks,

Fast
