Yes, I am using a SingTel ONT.

Here's my current configuration.

Fibre - > SingTel ONT -> ASUS Router -> 2 x MioTV Boxes

Hi thanks for sharing. Just to confirm that you have a Singtel ONT and not an ONR?

Feel like canceling my Singtel tv... mainly use to watch football... but so long no football matches liao... every month like waste $92... I don’t even watch any other shows... if cancel need to return the box huh? The ST shop still open?
Btw any other legal way to watch football matches in the future online?

There are online football streams available but lag a few minutes behind.

I have been using an ASUS RT-AC5300 for many years now, with Singtel Mio TV.

Excellent WIFI coverage for the entire household.
No dead wifi zones anywhere.

I highly recommend this router, if you are thinking of making the switch.

BTW, I have 2 Singtel Mio TV set boxes in my household, and my router can natively work to support both.

P.S. I received a PM about setting up the ASUS 5300 Router to support 2 SingTel Mio TV set boxes. I am making this information public to anyone who might need it. :)

HARDWARE SETUP
First of all , you must have an existing working setup with the 2 Mio TV boxes and the original supplied SingTel router .

After you replace the SingTel router with your ASUS router , you have to login into the ASUS router.

ROUTER SOFTWARE SETUP
Under LAN , Tab IPTV,

Select “ Manual Setting” for ISP Profile.

Use these settings :

Internet : VID: 10, PRIO: 0
LAN Port 4: VID: 20, PRIO: 4
LAN Port 3: VID: 20, PRIO: 4

DHCP: Microsoft
IGMP PROXY: Disable
IGMP Snooping: Disable
(Udpxy) : 0

Does this ASUS RT-AC5300 able to support a house up to 3 floors? i wanted to get the Asus RT-AC86U 2900 but i really don't know which router to get now since so many new ones released especially AX wife 6 :s22:

Another question, your settings are for 2x MioTV only or can be use on 1x MioTv? i do have only 1x MioTv box at home though and i don't know about the ISP profile but i read the Asus support they have a small guide how to configure it.

I confirm that I have excellent wifi over all the rooms in my 2 storey house.
With the ASUS 5300, since day one, I have never had to employ any wifi repeaters, nor any of the new age so-called “ wifi mesh” for over 5 years now. ;)

The new AX wifi standard is supposedly much faster, but my understanding is that the Super burst of speed is only over line of sight connections.
However, to future proof your purchase , if I were you , I too would be tempted get the latest ASUS AX wifi models.
I would probably only upgrade my 5300 when ( and if) it finally breaks down.
I left my 5300 unit on 24/7 continuously for over 5 years now, the unit is still going strong .

One Mio TV box is the standard .
It can definitely support one Mio TV box, you can use the recommended ASUS settings.
You just have to connect your Mio TV box to LAN 4.

My 2 x Mio box set up uses LAN 3 and LAN 4 of the router .

ASUS RT-AC86U is one of the best WiFi 5 AC router. But yes it is better to buy WiFi 6 AX router now that you can get RT-AX58U (AX3000) at similar price. RT-AX86U is also just out but the price may be a bit higher. If you are willing to pay a bit more, RT-AX88U is also very good.

Understood! wow 5 years 24/7 is very impressive :) actually i don't mind getting an AC wifi 5 router, i just want better wifi coverage, wifi speed and a router that is fully compatible with miotv.

I did many read up and RT-AC86U is really very impressive for AC wifi 5! i just want a good router that can support my entire house and also AX is nice but if all the devices i'm using doesn't have AX Wifi 6 support i get it also defeat the purpose, just that it has future proof when i change to any AX wifi 6 device :)

Thanks for the information. . . i will take a look at the prices!

seeking bro here advice

My friend subscribe to Singtel 1G internet bundle with Mio TV. In order to enjoy further benefit, he nominate his Singtel Mobile and his wife mobile line for some discount and change mobile phone every year.

As he no longer want to watch Mio TV, but remain to engage with Singtel 1G internet. Whereby, he would like to downgrade his mobile line(Combo3) to SIM only. His wife line is a 12GB old plan, she never renew the contract for long time, and she may change to SIM only plan as well.

What would be the best solution to get rid of the Mio TV.

Just wait for the Singtel TV contract to expire and then cancel SingTel TV. Converting to SIM only also saves quite a bit and you will have more data.

As long as your friend does not need to get high end phones every year or every two years, this will save him quite a bit of money every month.

So would the additional discount given on mobile monthly subscription be taken away, after Mio TV and internet is separated and ceased. Further, mobile contract will be continue without additional discount, if both internet bundle and mobile contract is not in line together?

After Mio TV is cancelled, he needs to bring the Mio TV box down to Orchard Hello shop to return in order to effectively cancel the service?

Yes the discount will go away. But the discount is not a lot. Converting to SIM only will save more.

Yes the mobile contract will continue if the contract has not expired. Once the mobile contract expires, then you can convert to SIM only.

Anyway, you can calculate the savings by yourself to see how to proceed.

By converting one of my Combo 2 lines to SIM only (S$25 plan, 40GB promotion), I saved about S$17 per month and get much more data (2GB to 40GB).

Yes you need to return the SingTel TV box to a SingTel Shop (a few places, like Jurong Point if you are in the West).

Thanks for the input, i'm having the Aztech DSL7002GRV(S).

Then it already supports SingTel TV because it supports Vlan. Why do you need a switch in this case?

You can not put a dumb switch in between the router and a SingTel TV, if you plan to have internet access on the same switch. You have to use a smart switch like the TP-SG105E.

If you plan to use multiple Singtel TV boxes from the switch, I think a dumb switch like the TL-1005D will work.

The router is in the living room and i'm thinking of moving the set top box into the room as there is only 1 internet port in the room thus need a switch to connect for both the internet and singtel tv.

In that case you need a smart switch like TP-Link SG-105E.
