Is there optical audio out on this box? wish to connect a Bluetooth audio transmitter for this for my mum who is currently using the RCA audio out with her Sennheiser is 410 TV ears as she is hard of hearing. the newer TV earphones are all digital out something like this Sennheiser RS 5200 - Digital Wireless Headphones for TV Listening - Black https://amzn.asia/d/fdCY9Rl

any users using tp-link deco as main router connected to singtel ont?

when enable vlan/ iptv for singtel tv, do you have to connect the tv box directly to the deco or can plug to an unmanaged switch (example: tl-sg105) connected to the main deco?

if need to plug directly, then like those deco models with 2 ports cannot do ethernet backhaul already right?

You are right that those TP-Link Deco models with 2 ports cannot do ethernet backhaul already when using Singtel ONT and Singtel TV box.

It is the same for other 3rd party routers like Asus (eg: Zenwifi XD4).

The reason is that 3rd party Singtel VLAN profile implementation is not as good as Singtel issued router. The port which is dedicated to Singtel TV Box will only have VLAN 20 and therefore no Internet access. Therefore adding a unmanaged switch will not help you.

1) Case 1 -- working option
Singtel ONT -- Deco main router -- Singtel TV box (two ports used up)

2) Case 2: Singtel TV box will usually work but not the Deco Mesh node
Singtel ONT -- Deco main router -- unmanged switch -- Singtel TV box + Deco mesh node

In general, it is not recommended to have mesh solution with only two ports if you need to use Singtel TV and use Ethernet backhaul.

Take note newer Deco will have three gigabit Ethernet ports -- for example, Deco X50/X55/X75/X90/X95. But the older Deco X20/X60/X68 and newer Deco X25 have only two ports.

ok thanks for the reply. was looking at x50 but wanted something slightly stronger like x60. guess have to consider other solutions.

Hi all, need help with my home’s network setup consisting of 2 Singtel TV set top boxes. I am on Singtel 1gbps with ONT and Singtel issued router.

I intend to replace the Singtel router with a pair of Asus XT12 with ethernet backhaul (I am aware that I can get other pairs of Asus router combo (example, AX86U, AX88U, AX89X etc.) and run ethernet backhaul but I prefer the design of XT12, thus the selection).

Due to the limited LAN ports on XT12 (1x WAN, 3x LAN), I am wondering if the illustration below will work for both Singtel Set Top boxes.

If below illustration does not work, what other options do I have if I want to retain the XT12 setup with ethernet backhaul? Thank you.

I believe this will not work. You need two ports for the two Singtel TV boxes.

Then you can add a switch to the 3rd LAN port, just a cheap one will do, like TP-Link TL-SG105. Using the switch to connect to your Starhub TV+ box and the XT12 mesh node.

Hi xiaofan, thank you for sharing.

I chance upon a post of yours from Nov 2021 sharing a post by user 'UnusedCalculator' https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...h-tplink-sg108e.5746952/page-4#post-137741331

This was his setup.
Singtel ONT -> TL-SG105E Port 1
TL-SG105E Port 2 -> Asus XT8 Router WAN Port
TL-SG105E Port 3 -> Singtel AC Elite Router
TL-SG105E Port 4 -> Singtel MIO TV STB
TL-SG105E Port 5 -> Asus XT8 Router LAN Port (to access the switch's management UI)

I supposed I could replicate most of his VLAN settings but change Port 3 of TL-SG105E to my other Singtel TV STB and with VLAN 20?

Yes that should work.

You can also just use his VLAN profile without any change and connect the Singtel TV box to the Port 3 Singtel issued router (Singtel AC Plus, AC Elite, Singtel Mesh Router, etc) in case you need some LAN ports in that area. You can disable wifi of that Singtel issued router.

Hi Xiaofan,

I have 6x Airties 4930 (3x from Singtel and 3x added myself) via Singtel Hwawei ONR (with disabled wifi I believe) in a 2 storey house to support 2x singtel tv boxes in 1st floor and 2nd floor, 1x dedicated music server on 1st floor, 1x back room in 1st floor and 1x backroom in 2nd floor. Occasionally, 2nd floor singtel tv box will lose connection while the backroom in 2nd floor runs slow.

I am thinking of upgrading to tri-band wifi 6 for improvement if that will indeed be possible but will 6x TP-link X75 which I believe are not approved by Singtel be able to directly replaced the 6x 4930 ? Read but no clue on what netgear's website on Orbi in AP mode with my Singtel ONR which I did not do for 4930 to 2x singtel tv boxes and hence the concern if 6x TP-link X75 will work .... even preferrably reduce the wifi setup to 5x TP-link x75 to reduce cost by eliminating the 1x backroom in 1st floor if at all possible.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers.

Richard

I assume you have to use Wireless backhaul, and that's why you want to use triband Wifi router, right?

In your case, TP-Link can not be used as it does not support Singtel TV for ONR users.

BTW, SIngtel ONR does not have Wifi function.

You have to go with Netgear Orbi RBK753 or RBK754 to see if the coverage is good enough or not. The price is not cheap (RBK853 is even more expensive). The good thing is that they provide paid installation service if you opt to use their service.

The other alternative is to get your home wired and then you can use wired connection to your Singtel TV boxes. You can compare the price of both options to see which one to go.

Hoping to get some enlightenments from SIngTel TV Go app users.

Recently, the app is broadcasting movies in chinese audio from HBO HD channel on my mobile device. I encounter the same issue when I switched from one mobile device to another. I suspect that these movies have the dual langauge audios option since not all movies are affected. All other channels are not affected. There is no options for me to switch the audio on the app. On the same HBO HD channel on my SingTel TV box, the same movie is broadcasting in english language.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the app doesn't not help in this case. Anyone has a solution to this?

I just tested HBO HD on my Singtel TV Go app, it’s in english.

Alternatively you can download the HBO Go app and watch the live channels from there. Login with Singtel TV credentials.

Thanks for helping to test, very much appreciated.

I believe the issue arises specifically from those dual language movies since it doesnt happens in all movies from the channel.

There are no options for me to toggle the language. Anyway to switch language on those dual language movies?

As far as I know, none of the common VPN works. The app detects data center IP addresses in Singapore (all the VPN vendors use the data centers).

You can however, try to install VPN server on your router to see if that works. Asus router will have the Instant Guard which is easy to set up.

Bro, u also watching through channel 141 and 142 in singtel tv go? I still don’t have these 2 channels in my tv go.

edit: found the issue. The 2 channels only available under home view mode. On the go (watching while not at home) is not possible.
