Hey guys, just wondering if you have received calls from mioTv singtel regarding some enhancement updates that they are sending technicians down to your house?

signal boosting?

none for me, but on the day of installation, singtel ask the engineer who came down to service my installation to return after 1 hour to boost the signal.

They now doing checks to make sure all working well, for some customers with BPL packages, they are now planning to get technicians to come down and re-check the lines as well......

Hi all,

I am new to the forum. I have a problem with Mio TV. In July, I subcripted to Mio TV. Not long after that, the tech came

and install the set. All working fine. As I only use the Mio TV to watch F1, the set was only switch on 10th and 11

July. After that it was turn off until last weekend. Last sat when I try to tune in for the F1, there is not signal from

the box. Only a purple screen. I called the hotline and they said they will send in a guy to check.
Yesterday, the tech guy from singtel came (I am not at home). He was there from 1 pm and left only at 5 pm. I am not

sure what he did during the 4 hrs there.
To my horror, he installed a separate wall socket (those ugly ones) next to my original tel jack. The wires are exposed

and dangling out from the wall to the socket. My wall is also damage in the process.
I called up the hotline and ask for an explaination. The poor guy had no explaination to why they did so.

My questions are

1) why is it that my original wall socket cannot be use? They have to create another socket for me. (The original socket

is now un-usable)
2) why is it that the original socket in other rooms also cannot be use as well (I tried but no signal)
3) why in the first stallation the mio TV works? Not alteration needed?

The hotline guy says they will call me again today to update me. So far not call yet.

Any clue why is this happening? The separate socket is the cheapo type and I see no resaon this jack is the solution to

it. This cannot be a booster which the hotline guy try to smoke me .....

Any advice?

Thanks

I have the same problem as you. The explaination given was the same telephone line where I used for singnet BB not fast enough to support both MioTV and Singnet BB. So what they did was to install another telephone line for me specifically for Mio TV. My singnet Bb will still be on my old number. Check you bill. Dun be surprise to see another number. But they dun charge you for it. Hope this helps.

because your socket is faulty... as simple as that buddy... would you rather your own socket with CRC and poor bandwidth or ugly new socket but no crc and good bandwidth and throughput? go figure.:D

your other rooms sockets are not connected to your dp.. thus no use or signal in this matter....

your socket either just happened to spoil, or the installer already knew your socket was cocked up but did nothing about it, or the installer did not wish to hijack your socket but the tech had the initiative to..

What determine the wall socket is faulty. If my house phone can receive CLEAR voice comm thru that socket, can this socket be faulty?

What is dp? The adsl is not connected directly to the MIOTV box. It is thru the comtrend plc-9000 power grid. So technically, I can use any of my wall socket in any of my wall. anyway, I did also connect the adsl direct from the other wall thru a longer network cable.

What puzzle me is that there is no problem with the signal during the initial setup. Why this now?

And to your question. I paid for a service that is of high standard and I expect good quality finishes from it. I will not have it other ways.

unlike old analog modem which uses the same bandwidth as voice, dsl modem uses a higher frequency which may not be audible. thus a clear voice line may not indicate it has no problem for dsl connectivity.

Only advantage of MioTV is HD5 and BPL + Champions League...the rest of channels s**ks big time comparing with MaxTV.
