Yah but SH's issues are not that widespread. For a start, their cable channels and internet have separate bandwidth allocation in the frequency spectrum, even thought they may be using the same coaxial cable. This is not the case for MIO TV, where it's all internet packets and using the same SingNet BB platform. The congestion is more serious with MIO lor. :o

?
You need try visit more homes.

Even though diff channels have diff freq, it is possible that the cable/splitter in some home is the cause of specific fq band attenuation, and hence as a result, less optimum signal str

I cant give you a figure as its not statistically done, but talking about widespread, this problem is actually somewhat obvious in a number of old homes

Some you can fix easily, others is due to noise generated by neighbours' equipment, and hence, no fix

hi guys, i'll share my experience with MioTV so far.
i got the early bird promo & watched the Champions League & Europa Cup, no probs encountered.
June comes along and so does the World Cup.
My family goes with Starhub instead of MioTV and I had a great time.
Was worried when MioTv was reportedly 15sec behind the LIVE action.

World Cup comes and goes and I decided to switch on my MioTV box on 30th July, nearly 2months aft I last used it.
Den the STB hung and aft 5 reboots, i called Singtel.
Then we proceeded to do another 5 reboots and still no progress, juz the usual purple MioTV homepage.

Todae Mr Dennis came down and checking my wall socket, he goes down to check the connection as well. All else fails and he put in a new STB.
And know my Mio is back in running.

I notice the image tends to 'hang' for a sec or 2 at times when I switch channels, besides that there is no probs so far. Hope all goes well and I am looking forward to the start of the BPL season beginning with the FA Community Shield and hope i'll get to watch Spurs in the Champions League.

The only issue I have with Singtel is tt they kept me on hold for over 30mins when i called the Mio hotline, that has to improve from a customer service point.

you and i same pattern ...
after champions league no touch Mio until after WC ...
one thing i remember the installer telling me is :
don't switch off the plug to the MioBox before you switch off the set via the remote ...
reason : will hang after 3 times or so ... and it will take a long time to be reset
i sincerely hope everyone who sign up BPL can enjoy the matches without any hitches etc ...
i dunno about you, but i've never switched off the mains to the STB ... just let it on all the time, with the occasional power off via the remote ...
the same way i do with my 2 SH STBs all this while ...
i am not too thrill about equipment doing a 'cold' start ... believe it's better to let a small current thru even in standby mode

hi jas007, in the 10yrs i hav used Starhub's STB, i nvr bothered if it was power off by remote or main switch, cos always no prob.
yes i hav read on this forum tt switching off the Mio STB by remote avoids problems.
i sincerely hope the STB will work even if i power it off via the main switch.
maybe i'll off the mains tonite and see if tmr still ok.

wahahaha ... so it seems you dispelled the 'urban myth' of directing switching off the MioBox via the Mains (wall socket)

the only mains in my house that i switched on and off are :
Heaters, hair-dryers, rice cookers, electric kettle ... all else remain untouched once plugged in :D

ok guys... some update for being a d*ck so far... so i'll just share this... i was at my friend's place just now when a tech came to fix his miotv...

for the aztech modem and standalone line for miotv only.....

the aztech modem lately has a firmware patch... this firmware patch/upgrade will remove the slight 1-2 glitch you have after changing channels... at least it was proven just now... before and after the modem upgrade... so yeah... just thought i might share with some... i saw it with my own eyes... up to you to believe it or not... and my friend and i tested by switching on and off for a couple of times just to ensure the miotv doesnt cock up again... and sure thing, the miotv was ok...:D

yeap... the glitch if i'm not wrong, happens at the 8th secs for 1-2secs after changing channels... the glitch would seem like frames overlapping with pixellated distorted images or just freezing...:D

anyway, this is direct connection... if you're using the plugs ruckus, it might be a diff case..

So you managed to grab the firmware file from the tech?
