How about if you dont recontract and continue monthly payment. Do you still have to pay the revised amount for BPL or it will come into effect only if you recontact again?

as far as i know, it'll remain the same if nothing done

So can confirm if already out of contract and don't recontract, will pay old subscription? But I suspect ST will chut some stunt forcing all to recontract.

if u want peace of mind, call 1688

I am on Jinxuang Combo Pack @ $29.90 signed last year July 2012. Basically some Jinxuang channels (not a lot) and BPL only and STAR/ESPN (no Champions League, no FA Cup, no league Cup since before ST acquired these rights later). Installed in August 2012 and my contract therefore started mid-August 2012 for 1 year contract.

Since contract is due and I am not prepared to pay $59.90 or even $64.90/$69.90 for the Gold Pack and I do not want any bill shock, I called 1688 to enquire with the intention to return the equipment and cancel.

The Sales lady said that she is aware of my concern and told me that I will continue to pay $29.90 after the contract ends so long as I continue with the same package although no contract. Should I add channels or change anything then new pricing will have to be applied as that will be new contract pricing.

If this policy remains and so far they are true to their words that existing customers will not be affected, then I will continue with existing mioTV pack for the next 3 years that BPL is with ST.

Oh this is fine with me also. If they do like this, then I wont add in any other channels also.. :D. Anyways, waiting for my next month bill to see exactly what happens...

That is what I was told.

I was also told that my current bill was printed during the long weekend holiday that just passed (therefore I have not receive yet yesterday) and it shows $29.90 for the period from early Aug to early Sep 2013, that straddle my contract expiry in mid-Aug 2013. Of course I do not know what may happen in the next Sep to Oct 2013 bill (I was thinking that may be back-dating of fees) so the first lady (at 1688) advised it was better I speak to Sales to get the correct answer.

This was what the Sales lady told me.

Subsequently, I also checked the T&C on the JinXuan Combo Pack brochure that I still keep. It states "For full terms and conditions see http://mio.singtel.com/miotv/tnc.asp "

On tis webpage, I clicked on "mio TV General Terms and Conditions" and this is the pdf I get:

http://mio.singtel.com/miotv/_pdf/generic-terms-conditions-for-mio-TV-service.pdf

QUOTE
(a) 12 months minimum subscription period for all content pack(s)/channels(s) will apply unless otherwise stated.
...
...
...
(f) After the minimum subscription period expires, the subscription to any content or channel(s) will automatically continue at the same subscription rates until the subscription is terminated by customer.
UNQUOTE

So, at this time, I have no reason to doubt the ST Sales lady. Of course, if I were to receive a bill shock next bill, I will terminate. But meantime, if ST remains true to their words, I will reciprocate positively by staying with mio TV for the next 3 BPL years or until forever or until they change T&C that affects differently.

But point g says the below

(g) After the end of any promotional subscription rate periods, prevailing subscription charges shall apply for the remainder of the contract term

Anyhow, I will also wait till September bill to see what happens and then decide. Hope they stick to point f and wont increase price. then can continue with MIO...

I think "promotional subscription rate periods" refers to different thing. When I subscribed, the normal rate was $29.90/mth with a promotion rate of 50% for the first 3 months. Meaning for the first 3 months, I paid $14.95/mth, after that revert to normal $29.90/mth.

For info, I received my early Aug - early Sep 2013 bill this afternoon and it shows $29.90 for the period, straddling my contract expiry of mid-Aug, which imply cause (f) is honoured at this time.

There is a version 2.1 update dated 16-August-2013. Don't seem to have loading problem with this update. I try again during the ManU match in about 10 minutes time and see what happen.

Update:
10 mins into the Swansea-ManUtd game, I launched mioTV Go. Logged in without problem. Closed the app and re-launched again, logged in no problem.

The only thing I notice, the live stream on iPad is 10 sec slower than on the TV.

Another Update:
Logged in again 3rd time of the game, no problem.

I wanted to test out the mioTV Go app in Andriod but unfortunately at this time, the supported Andriod devices are very limited. I am unable to install in my Motorola XOOM, it is not listed.

Any idea which set top box is the best in terms of its sleeknes in size, stability and fast performance? Mine is the 5 year old silver Motorola. But I saw my uncle´s very nice small black slim one.brand is Tatung. Anyone here just got their new set top box?care to share what brand and its dimension?

Motorola - 1st generation boxes, STB does not feel hot after long hrs but bulky
VIP 1200AP
VIP 1208AP - DVR 80GB

Tatung - TWN brand, sleek n smaller boxes. For DVR model, feels slightly warm
STB 2300
STB 3002 - DVR 500GB

Cisco - Small sizes with big clock on STB front but feels oven hot after some hours
ISB-2200
ISB-2230 - DVR 500GB

Believe the currently issued boxes are of Tatung and Cisco.

For remotes, the ones used for Cisco and Tatung are similar to the round ones, only they are now black in colour. Only difference are the black ones have the color buttons for Teletext (Red, Green Yellow and Blue), and the DVD, VCR etc. buttons found on the silver remote are no longer there.

I use only the DVR models.....but for non-DVR ones, Tatung STB 2300 is the most compact size - but you would need the remote to control everything since not much buttons on the Tatung front panel. I believe this is the one you saw at your relatives' place.

So sorry, I am unable to post pixs here, not sure how to do it.

For the Tatung DVR box, the picture of the box can be found on the mio TV monthly content brochure.

I changed my Motorola DVR (due to sunk-in Power button on STB) to the Cisco DVR ones. Requested change from Cisco DVR due to the heat issue from Cisco box.

Hope the above helps.

Tatang DVR is longer in length compared to Cisco DVR. Cisco DVR is about 3/4 in size to the Motorola non DVR box.
Quality is v good. U keen on upgrading? Maybe wait for Comex.....better promo on upgrading.....

Ok, can try saying u need a bigger size hard disk hence need the Cisco one with 500G one. Tell them u need the compact Cisco one. The rental should be $12 since the disk space increases. Good luck.

That is correct.

From internal sources, they're gradually phasing out the Motorola - sadly.

The 2300 is just the model with the plain front IIRC. There is a in between model - with a clock.

Tatung is still not too bad - but my main gripe is if you lose the remote, you're screwed. Replacement from ST is not cheap either.

Cisco STB everyone's asking for a pic, managed to dig out a link:
http://www.avito.ru/moskva/audio_i_video/tv_pristavka_cisco_isb_2200_bez_hdd_142155228

Notice that component video output is no longer present on the Cisco STB.

AFAIK, the Tatung (newer model with clock infront) & Motorola are the better ones.

Why use the word sadly? Motorola so bulky.ugly. phasing out? Meaning they will send a letter to us to exchange to tatung or cisco?
