Motorola - 1st generation boxes, STB does not feel hot after long hrs but bulky
VIP 1200AP
VIP 1208AP - DVR 80GB

Tatung - TWN brand, sleek n smaller boxes. For DVR model, feels slightly warm
STB 2300
STB 3002 - DVR 500GB

Cisco - Small sizes with big clock on STB front but feels oven hot after some hours
ISB-2200
ISB-2230 - DVR 500GB

Believe the currently issued boxes are of Tatung and Cisco.

Anyone here using cisco isb 220 experiencing "oven hot" on your set top box?

That is correct.

From internal sources, they're gradually phasing out the Motorola - sadly.

The 2300 is just the model with the plain front IIRC. There is a in between model - with a clock.

Tatung is still not too bad - but my main gripe is if you lose the remote, you're screwed. Replacement from ST is not cheap either.

Cisco STB everyone's asking for a pic, managed to dig out a link:
Купить Ð*удио и видео: МоÑ*ква — БеÑ*платные объÑ*влениÑ* на Ñ*айте AVITO.ru

Notice that component video output is no longer present on the Cisco STB.

AFAIK, the Tatung (newer model with clock infront) & Motorola are the better ones.
U were saying theres the tatung 2300 in between model non dvr which has a clock infront and is a newer and better one.exactly what model no.is that?can u measure for me the lenght of the box?

The Cisco boxes are notorious of being very hot, likewise the Starhub Cisco box. U may want to request for the Tatung STB 2300 instead.

The most trouble free STB is the Motorola VIP1200AP - you can try to ask the installer if he has any on hand. ;)

Its time for Singtel to change the design of their mio remote control. It has been around for years.better to follow like LG smart pointer remote.sleek and small.

i called up Singtel. They screwed up. The letter was sent to many subscribers even though their BPL sport group subscription is not due for renewal yet. Mine is due in Jun 2014 (definitely not going to recontract as it seems) and the CSO told me to ignore the mailer and they will advise on the options upon contract expiry - which i suspect won't be any different i.e. (1) auto-convert to $59.90 for BPL only package, or (2) take on 1 of the Gold Packs for $64.90 onwards. No loyalty discount or whatsoever.

Singtel, well played. You are burning through the goodwill with your clientele. I wish you well.

Now that the dvb-t2 has launch HD Suria, Vasantham and Channel 8, when will MIO produce HD for those channels?

I checked with MDA.....officially the T2 signals starts mid this month. As for carriage on both ST n SH, the person mentioned at a later date as they (ST n SH) need to test out the chs on their systems.

The current test signals are only available from 7pm to 11pm daily.

Managed to sign up with Starhub on 30 Nov (last day of the $600 rebate for BPL cross carriage). After 4 years with Mio (still on my very old BPL $25 per month contract), finally will be moving back to Starhub.

Very unhappy with the way Singtel forcing their existing customers to "upgrade" to what gold package. Even I will be paying more, I will not pay to Singtel.

Will be calling them to terminate my existing old contract. Bye bye MIO.

Singtel still claiming your $59.90 per month from Starhub, so they don't lose much lol

Well, actually he still has to sign up with SingTel directly (indicating as a StarHub customer watching via SH set top box). ST will bill him directly for BPL and he pays ST directly. SH is not in the picture for BPL signup, contract and billing. :s13:

Haha I don't think we football fans have a choice right? Since Singtel has the broadcasting right till 2016. At least I don't need to use the sucky Mio set up box anymore.

Paying $59.90 per month is till better than paying $64.90 plus set up box rental for the stupid gold pack to Singtel every month.

They will not bother small fry customer like me. After my 10mbps singtel adsl plan expired next year, I will switched to M1 fibre.

Yes ST really not doing things right with how they treat their existing customers.

I signed up miohome some 1.8 yrs ago and it came with some free but dull channels on miotv--except for channel 104, a bpl soccer channel. About 4 months back they give the excuse of the cross carriage arrangement with starhub for bpl and removed the only one channel that is at least worth watching--no compensation, no apology--just quietly hoping that no one notice. They dont know how much ill will they generate.
For new miohome subs they offer much improved channels, but say if i want those channels i need to pay extra for settop box. Very bad pr. Its very obvious what i am going to do when my contract is up
