Hey bro, should you require, I can take pic of all the packs for you to check against

Thanks justmeasures for the suggestion, we shall consider that next time on a case-to-case basis. If the insistence is to have a full refund, I think we have a no-case here. To be honest, nanoblock boxes do warp overtime even when not stacked. Scotchtape do trap dust at the edges over time, but nothing too tough to clean up with some scotchtape and alcohol.

I will not be trying to debate/argue who's right or wrong here, but just attaching the email conversation so that it gives both sides of the story (all contact, account no, addresses have been masked) I think it is only just to have both sides of the story.

We will send your order back by registered mail, just to be sure it reaches your doorstep.

Wah... I am...so damn disappointed.

--

As a seller and buyer myself...

1. There is NO reason for opening the box to check the content.
What content is there to check? What is sealed, is meant to be sealed. If there are missing stuffs inside, it then becomes the factory issue. Then seller/buyer will have to accept it as their luck. If seller decides to open it, he/she will be responsible for noticing the buyer it's not longer "Brand New". Otherwise, it is the buyer's luck of a factory defect. And "Brand New" is NOT subjective. Brand new is Sealed/Unused/Perfect condition unless otherwise mentioned in the deal or description.

2. There is also NO argument of rough handling blame to postman if buyer has specified it to be well protected and paid additional fee on top of it.
If seller have opted for envelope, it can be subjective.. But if seller have opted for carton, then No. Carton packaging is meant to protect the items from rough handling and as such newspapers/airbags/crushed paper/bubble wraps are meant to be placed around to protect the item. No seller should use a box carton that's just fitting to send something that already specifically mentioned to be protected.

And....
Right now most of my sets are still BNIB, there still are no warping issue just yet even on this Rila sets. And even on the few sets that I have kept outside stacking on top of each other, no dust (on the tape)/warp/crush.

To add on to the tape, I am pretty sure Brand New Nanoblock boxes do not actually come with scotch tapes like that. It's usually rounded..(or at least I have never seen one yet!)

As a seller, it's only your duty to keep the box as new as possible regardless of its age. If it aged or warped due to time, it is seller's responsibility to inform the buyer when it's obviously a collectible. And if the box already came slightly dented from the supplier, it's only the seller's luck. It should be in no way be pushed to the buyer to accept as "Oh, it already came like that when we got it from the supplier". These are simple seller ethics.. Or at least a kind of ethic I believe seller should have.

In Lego world, 1 crease on the box can mean S$100-500 difference on its value.
(Sorry to have to bring Lego out as example but I believe it falls under the same collectible category..)

--

Though, I think end day I would just say forget it. It's a waste of time and resource to argue. I believe all of us have eyes to see, and mind to think, and there is A LOT of collectors here. And I believe an amount of sales from came from words of mouth from a couple of us here.

All I think might be left to say is, "Sure, you can choose not to action on anything and insist on being such a seller. End day, you might just be damaging your reputation. Good day."

[Edit]
By the way, if boxes are opened, flattened and repacked back for transportation purpose from supplier/seller, it's only right to mention it during the sale because it's not original seal anymore. And perhaps there is a way, but I have never able to open up a box without leaving any crease on them... But may just only be me......

Was there any bubble wrap on the boxes? Judging from the photos, I couldn't see any. If that's the case, it was the seller's fault for misleading the buyer that there was extra protection given.

Postal services aren't going to give a hoot about how fragile your item even you stamped a million "fragile" marks all over the boxes. You screw up on the packaging side, 75% of your reputation goes down the drain.

From the mail:
Yes the items are brand new. The boxes are opened for both checking and for transportation. so this is why both sides are opened.

I'm sorry, this line sounded like Cool Story Bro tactic backfired. Things which are opened (seals broken) aren't brand new. Try selling a opened handphone kit as brand new as see what happens.

We don't see that as a dent though. We wouldn't go into the- definition of looking brand now as it is subjective. This is definitely how it looks like compared to all the stocks we have received.

I take it as all your products have box 'defects' and your idea of BNIB as having having dirty tapes and slightly squashed boxes.

Not a good impression for any buyers when they think you don't take care of the stocks?

As the rest of the case went, it became a snowball tossing at each other's court.

Seller is at a losing as she returned the products and have not received refund, unless the case is brought up to tribunal court.

i think meeting face to face with seller would have been a better idea if no one wants to put the blame on postal services.

By the way, if the snowball fight gets on too long, the folks in HWZ are going to get very...interested in data digging.

i was just wondering when u guys would say something about it. I guess you did. well done. :)

edit: I am a neutral party in this case. Being objective to both buyer and seller.

- I believe that given the age of the blocks, wear and tear is inevitable
- I am agreeable with premium pricing for the kits. After all, willing seller and willing buyer.
- $120 for the pair is too expensive to begin with. I can understand that a premium is charged due to the rarity/scarcity of it. But due to the poor condition of the box (due to whatever reasons), it should be accorded at a cheaper rate.

I sold my pair MSIB at $90.

rila v1 i bought at 65  :(

Tbf, i was expecting a BNIB mint condition box, given tt price n from collector's pov. So honestly very disappointed.

One of e nano i bought, those in bag packaging, was opened too... *shrugs*

Your assumption is a bit too strong here. Dirty tapes for this model, we won't deny. Will still stand to my point that the squashed boxes aren't due to us.

I will take up your advice and propose a meetup too.

On the scotch tapes part, I can be very sure they came out of the store with those. That's definitely a new for you then. :)

Completely agree with you, I can choose to ignore or choose to do something.

Sure, btw my address can still be seen from few of the smaller images. It will be nice if you can check through again and remove that. Thanks.

Apologies for that. Have amended it and given a new link:

As per what StealthEagle bro has said, if you want to meet up and have it resolved, please drop us a mail. Thanks.

Would surely keep this in mind and see if I would see such boxes in the next few years even after 2 years of collection of 20+ boxes..from 1st Rila, to Disney...to Miffy, to Sights...to Trains, to Planes to Basics...all the way to 2nd Rila. Perhaps the 3rd Rila will have some scotch tape on them! Then I will possibly return to buy and recommend...

Though I wonder what makes it "very sure" given the fact that it was mentioned it's "open for content check and transportation".

:s22:

Then again, I am only 1 person.... :s13:

I thought round tape seals are the norm for the box seals, I never likes these as the glue will 'degrade' over time. I always remove them after cutting open.

Do note that these seals are a bit harder to remove; removing with your nails will leave tiny dents around the area.

Charging a premium price and having opened boxes is already a suspicious sign of a dishonest seller.

The problem is that you didn't tell and show the seller about the condition of the box in the first place to assure that your items are mint condition with no damage.

If your photos proved that your goods didn't suffer any damaged before packaging, the postal blame wouldn't pop up.

On the scotch tapes part, I can be very sure they came out of the store with those. That's definitely a new for you then. :)

I don't remember seeing rectangular scotch tapes likes these in retail stores although I heard the original seals come off over time. I think the dirty tape part should have been addressed in the first place.

Maybe next time cover the stocks you want to sell.

Thanks for the amend, but I don't see what's the point of a meetup now since:
1. you guys are persistent that those dirty tapes and warp is not caused by you guys.

2. a full refund is a "no-case" as said by you guys in the previous post.

3. I don't see what difference it will make as I will still be receiving those boxes reluctantly from you guys.

Did you get them from the same seller as me or from some other sellers? There is no reason for a bag package to be opened AT ALL.

I thought round tape seals are the norm for the box seals, I never likes these as the glue will 'degrade' over time. I always remove them after cutting open.

Okay, I've checked. Nanoblock boxes(incl. rila v1) does come with rounded tapes as seal. I don't get it about the transportation part too. The boxes ain't that big to even flatten them for transport.

Charging a premium price and having opened boxes is already a suspicious sign of a dishonest seller.

Yes. I can let the warp issue go if they didn't come with dirty tapes. And the thing is, the condition that I've received them in is considered brand new to them.

The boxes are definitely opened be it for reasons for transportation or whatsoever. I've attached an image of how a brand new at least one year old rila v1 seal should look like.

You're right. No bubble wrap when I've received the items in the carton box.

In that case, you can argue that the seller didn't package in the first place, hence the damage.

However, do you have photos that you packaged them properly when you sent the items back? If not, seller can blame you for negligence (you lose).

Would you prefer an exchange face-to face instead? You get the set brand new without the postal service.

As for the items, seller may want to sell at a loss. Disposing is such a waste. :s8:

You may be at a losing end as you returned the items and have nothing on hand other than a few photos to back your case.

You can fight back arguing that you have been misled by the seller as the products didn't come as described since you have email records.

I have checked, the tapes do tend to lose their stickiness over time (faster if your items are in low humidity). shop keepers will use scotch tapes to replace them. Items stay at the same price.

Depending on scotch tape's quality, degradation varies; use a shitter tape, it may affect the box (chemicals react yadada). I will leave the value debate to the collectors.

Seller hasn't answered the 2 questions about the opening and transportation.

Saying BNIB is subjective is rather sloppy; might as well say the contents are brand new in box but the box is all bashed up.

This, I have to admit I've packed them back the same way they've sent it over. Perhaps they can have a check of the conditions of the boxes that they've received. If it's similar to the condition that I've received them earlier on, then singpost should not be blamed.

Would you prefer an exchange face-to face instead? You get the set brand new without the postal service.

Brand new as in another set? Because based on the email conversations, they actually stated that all their other sets look like that as well.

You may be at a losing end as you returned the items and have nothing on hand other than a few photos to back your case.

The ball is in their court now. But if they're to sweep everything under the carpet, this will show that their reputation is only worth 120$.

Round tape seals are definitely a norm for Nanoblock box seals, someone apparently thinks the otherwise.. :s13:

I still don't get the transportation part, removing the air? :s22:

This is a way to save shipping cost which in the case I assume it's the transportation part from supplier > seller (nothing the buyer needs to bear, duh). Resellers sometimes will reduce shipping fee (in volumetric weight) by flattening box and separate content. However, this situation is always ethically mentioned in any sales/deal because they are not longer in its original packaging. Unless seller can keep them like original conditions, with original seals/perfect box, then no one would know it's transported that way (or even opened in the first place). This case obviously doesn't seem to be the case since seller has already mentioned it's opened and transported, and even cut -.-....

Honestly for me (or most collectors I know), even when tapes lose their stickiness, it's still supposed to remained as it is. It's generally a proof that it's "Brand New"..

Shop keepers who are ignorant in using scotch tapes are to bear the degradation cost themselves, not the buyer. When we are in store, it's only up to us to see/look the conditions before buying. That's willing seller, willing buyer. But for online selling, it's a case of seller trying to mislead a buyer when it's mentioned as "Brand New" yet it's cut/repacked/open/resealed (with no mention in sale description) and refusing to refund when found out. It's definitely not a "willing buyer" anymore, though looking like a "really willing seller".

I spoken to another fellow Nanoblock collector who mentioned that this "scotch tape" issue might just be an...I-have-no-idea-about-it. However, this is no only-1-nanoblock-item seller, this is a specialized Nanoblock seller. There's no reason for ignorance that this item is not in its original packaging and seal.

Like as though it's all the buyer fault that the box was damaged during repackaging...or that the seal is no longer original.

:s13: I will say, if they intend to sweep under the carpet.. At least take back the nanoblock, like duhhhhh, haha. In anyway, I would still purposely make them spend the ship back cost with Registered Mail and carton even if you no longer want the them. :s22:

Well, you could have demanded an explanation or refund as the seller has misled you. If you posted your story, maybe the collectors would be more cautious by now.:s22::s22:

Ohmy, just when I thought maybe I'm the only "suay" one since they were trustable. The box was torn in what ways? I understand if there're dents if mailed in envelope but....torns?
