Is the new prism q series 4K tv good to go with the PS5? Am looking for a new TV for my room while waiting for stocks

if u are gonna buy the prism q series 4k tv, it will be no difference as any other 4k tv since it does not have HDMI 2.1 to be able to play 4k @ 120hz.

But of course this is just for future proofing as not many ps5 games can be played at 4k @ 120hz.

If you want to buy a TV for gaming, then u will need to look for TVs that can support hdmi 2.1 standard, variable refresh rate etc

Yes they contacted me last nite. Collection time 1245pm. Only 15mind allocated. Preordered all the accessories too with them. Many items limited stock

The store I preorder from also similar situation, no news & radio silence. No sms, no calls, no email. Nothing.

So I went to the store today & ask them if there's any update. They check & confirmed I'm in the first batch, can collect on 19 Nov onwards after 2pm. But they'll give specific timing to collect (eg. 6pm - 8pm). If don't want or not free, can collect another day like Fri/Sat.

They said they'll call all PO customers on Wed. So most likely, the store you order it from will inform you latest by Wed as well.

They mention a few things. Their store are allocated 80+ units only (Relatively small store, only 1 outlet in Sg). They confirmed zero stocks for walk-in customers. Next batch arriving next year in January/February. DualSense controller, I heard they have 4 stocks left. Accessories available in limited quantities.

While in the store, I saw some PS5 games like Godfall, NBA 2K21 etc. They've started selling it. But Demon's Souls, Spider-Man: Miles Morales they don't have it yet.

Hyperfuse is spot on. But as an addition, Prism's TVs have very low peak brightness. Please look at the specs for brightness and see how many nits or cd/m2 it has.
Anything below 400 nits or 400 cd/m2, means it will not be able to do HDR properly. 400 nits is what is considered a bare minimum for you to enjoy HDR.

Even HDR games like Valhalla has given a minimum base point for HDR when you toggle it on and go to its settings.
This is so that you can fully experience the full impact of HDR where the bright explosions or maybe the car headlights will really shine bright like how it would closer to real life vs SDR where it won't have that impact.

Thus, if you are buying a Prism TV, not only will you not benefit from any of the HDMI 2.1 features, but you will also only get an SDR range in terms of brightness which in turn, means you can't fully see much of the HDR BT.2020 colour space anyway.

It's practically an SDR TV (in other words like many of the past and current TVs) that is being branded as an HDR one. Which is basically, false advertising due to the lack of any TV standards regarding HDR.
It is just a normal HDTV with more pixels to get 4K and nothing else. No proper HDR, no wider colour space, no VRR, no 4K 120Hz.

It might say that it has Dolby Vision, but dependant on the nits, you pretty much will have a mostly SDR experience. Especially if the TV clips any details above its capability on the EOTF curve. So you'll lose out a lot of details on the bright scenes if that's the case.
Highly do not recommend it if you want to really experience HDR gaming.
But if you are okay with SDR gaming, then it's fine.

3 days to go, can't help but feel sad that most APAC region gamers are unable to get their hands on this till 2021, Futher aggravated by sony decision to push this to tech crowd. Literally playhasnolimit till it is not a gaming device anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong as I have not tried Demon's Souls before, but looking at the gameplay footage, it seems more forgiving compared to Bloodborne and Sekiro, and to a certain extent the Nioh series. Am I correct to feel that if I can complete the games mentioned above, I don't have a problem with Demon's Souls? So looking forward to playing it for the first time next week haha.

should be have an easier time.

Has anyone heard from Harvey Norman yet? Emailed them and was told that "they were experiencing overwhelming response" and that they will "update once stock is here for collection".

Hdmi 2.1 is necessary if you want to be able to get 4K/120 Hz.

But you don't really need a TV with Hdmi 2.1 as most games wont be able to run at that setting. In fact, I doubt developers are making that a priority. 4k/60fps RT seems to be the goal and even then, seems abit hard to hit unless it's well optimized.

Very few tvs have Hdmi 2.1 and most of them are at the higher end of the scale. Unless you have the budget for it, I don't think splashing the cash on a tv for this feature is necessary.

True, alot of those cheaper TV advertise using marketing gimmick terms like HDR, Dolby vision etc. but delivery subpar performance.

In summary, read up the reviews and don't cheap out on the display since it is the medium which deliver the end result.

Saw it being advertise heavily for PS5 usage and so far the review are quite good. Best to go down and see it personally before purchase, different people will have different opinion especially come to display where there is LCD, Oled, Qled etc.

ya, 4k/60hz usually are good enough, no need jump into 4k/120hz or even 8k hype train since I doubt any PS5 AAA game can hit that kind of performance.
