I'm so old school(or just old), I still appreciate physical cover art. Digital ones just don't work for me.

agreed. something about having the physical disc in hand.

Also makes it easier to give it away or sell it.
+ physical discs means you can 'shop' from a few retailers whereas with digital edition you are tied to the PS Store

Different strokes for different people. Depends on each individual. But for me, its an easy choice & no-brainer. Definitely disc drive version.

+ Better to have 2 options to play a game (Disc & Digital). Rather than limit & restrict yourself to just 1 option (Imagine your friend lending you a PS5 game disc & you can't play it on your PS5 DE, as it doesn't have a disc drive).

+ After completing a game or you dislike a game & regret the purchase, can sell/lend/trade away the game disc.

+ Can buy used/2nd hand game disc.

+ Much faster to install data from disc to SSD. Compared to downloading a game from PSN.

+ Backwards compatibility with PS4 game disc.

+ Can play 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray & Blu-Ray Movie disc.

PS5 Digital Edition, you'll end up paying more in the long term as you're locked to the price on PlayStation Store, since you can't sell away any games to recoup the losses (Though I know there's often sales/discounts on PS Store)

Xbox Series X which is retailing for same price (USD) as PS5 at USD499
is selling here (accd to Xbox Singapore for SGD $699)

So PS5 might be around that range also? If they price it higher, won't people then start asking why there's a difference in price when the suggested retail price is same as Xbox?

sub to download and play all.

I don't think sg will get the pricing like the US and the jap. Probably will follow UK and euro. $799. But my gut feeling it will be retailed at $849 and disc version will probably command a higher premium due to higher demand. Personally I also prefer physical disc version.

Would it not make sense to have PS5 match Xbox Series X price - SGD$699?

Playstation undoubtedly is dominant in Asia and Europe but I doubt they would want to price their PS5 way higher than Xbox's right.

Especially for the average casual gamer? $699 vs $849 is huge

i don't see any pro of getting the digital edition other than saving a measly of 100 dollars.

they know it will sell like hot cakes.. they jack up the price sure got suckers still buy them, no need to match xbox price.

plus the cheaper console is a danger to Sony's sales strategy. Sony still considers console sales number as a mark of success/failure.

playstation refund policy sucks ass..

only can refund if the digital download is damaged..

unlike steam version they just refund as long as you don't play more than 2 hours and game is in your library for not more than 14 days.
