need help: I’m on Starhub 1000 mbps plan, but my home wi-fi wireless connection approx. 130 mbps download / 25 mbps upload on average only reflected in both my iPhone 12 pro max and my ipad too. Is it because I am using some cheap D-Link router provided by starhub 2 years ago? Should i change to a gaming router and will that power up the speed of wi-fi connection? Thanks a lot people...

That's the limitation of WiFi. Even if you go for WiFi 6, you have to look at how many antennas are there to make sure the connection will not be congested plus you need to make sure your devices are WiFi 6 compliant. And even then, a simple brick wall can degrade the signal almost immediately.

The only way to achieve the full 1Gbps is to use a Wired Lan connection.

I have this in my study room as well. Unfortunately it’s not a wifi 6 router.. that’s why I didn’t hook it up to my PS5.. but as mentioned earlier, lan cable is still your first choice to max your bandwidth haha

Me tooooo ! this Asus AX3k thingy is actually the very first router I use my own money
to buy de lo, and i never know that a good router can cost so much - don’t even know what’s the diff. between the isp free router vs. this Asus bumblebee lookalike (i’m not very technical...) ... but after spending all the money on a new LG CX tv, new sound system and some other accessories, I mean, what is another $180 to power up wifi connect?! very important to have fast connection right ?! (trying to justify my own spendings now ...) But, despite all these, the heart to the ironman suit is still no where to be seen ... still waiting VERY VERY patiently for Santa to delivery that white tower to my doorstep... God bless us all this Xmas ...

Honestly, It would be kind of a side grade. It really depends on whether you have the devices and the tech to utilise the wifi6 on the new routers such as the new phones, next gen consoles. Less congestion over wifi channels and new security encryption. If all these are something you want, then yes

oh i have a router at the cabinet area near the main door where all the lan ports converge. it provides gigabit ethernet connection to the other ports in my home. The wifi router in the close cabinet also can reach my bedrooms though.

In my furthest bedroom, i put another wifi router there to act as a wireless AP via the lan port in the wall connected to the first router in the cabinet.
