My initial guess is (and is reported) Sony was trying to plug to loophole for people stacking PS Now subs at cheaper price for conversion later. It is said the conversion will be done by "value" instead of duration, hence the compensation/topup.

And somehow the system regards all stackings as the same.

Does not seems to affect people with less than a year of sub, regardless of how much discount you get from it.

Wow. Scummy way of calculating the PS Plus membership plan if you plan to upgrade from Essential to Extra...

Plans are Essential $8.90, Extra (+$5) $13.90, Dulex (+$2) $15.90

It is pro-rated by how much you've paid for your monthly plan previously instead of the difference in price between the plans...

Lets say, you bought the discounted PSN at $6 (33% off) instead of full price $8.90 previously.
Instead of topping up $5 to become Extra, top up is $7.90 a month ($13.90 - $6)[Extra - your discounted monthly]

Seems like Sony do not want to honour the previous discount of PS Plus...

TBH Not really worth it compared to xboner game pass . The sony game collection is much punier . Most their sony old games can be played easily through emulators nowadays.

Xbone owning in this aspect i am afraid . I think i gonna stop my psn sub once it ends most of their free AAA games i already played/owned before .

I stay with my current membership which is now essential. I heard that the classic games are using the 50 hz PAL option. They think that they can pull a fast one and charge us $$, so I am not going to bite...

i got 10 months left and also need to 'repay' the discount.

will wait till it launches in US and EU to see if there will be any positive outcome.

As much as Sony has great exclusive, Sony's anti consumer attitude is the reason why I went with Xbox this generation. Now that most upcoming games support cross play there's no reason to support PS except for their exclusives.

While Sony will never lose to Microsoft espeically in Asia, I hope Microsoft will humble Sony soon.

Nope they probably throw older AAA games at best . So technically it's better to subscribe later after most better exclusive game released.

don't know why sony want to make it so complicated and scummy. Xbox game pass upgrade path is so simple and doesn't make up pay the full fee if you want to upgrade from live gold

Pricing has been fixed. Discounts are being taken into account when you upgrade from essential to extra/deluxe.

It was $70+ to upgrade 470 days for me this morning. Now its just $46 and I upgraded immediately.

Ok, i will defo upgrade at this new price point, its about $50(Extra) for me, for the remaining 574 days
Another $20 more for deluxe. But the only deluxe advantage is Game trial and the classic catalogue, which is looking pathetic at the moment, less than 20 games in the whole list, with syphon filter being the best offering.
Now if I only upgrade to extra, will i still be able to get an upgrade to Deluxe later on is another question.
