Just thinking... even if I were to get hold of a PS5 (which I do need cos my PS4 is going bonkers considering it’s 1st gen)... I would still need to upgrade my gaming tv. Currently still using a 55’ FHD LG.

Been looking around. A 55’ TCL or Xiaomi 4K TV is bout <$600. If I really want to tap on the new consoles capabilities... that would mean looking around for a 120Hz panel with HDMI 2.1.

Something tells me my wallet is going to have a big hole.

Get a good display. I'm running the first gen PS4 do and bought a LG Oled 65 back in March when my older oled spoilt then.

Microsoft comes to the stage to compete with Sony! In a major drive to attract casual gamers with the promise of cutting ties to the living room and as competition with Sony heats up.

Microsoft said this week the Xbox Series S will go on sale in November priced at US$299.99, with the more powerful Xbox Series X priced at US$499.99.

Sony X9000H + PS5 seems to be a good combo. It's a 2020 TV model. 4K HDR, HDMI 2.1, 120fps, Low Input Lag.

I think next-gen, 120fps will be supported by certain games only, mainly in multiplayer mode. Racing, First-Person Shooter & Fighting games will benefit from it.

While Action-Adventure games focusing on graphics & visual fidelity (Horizon: Forbidden West, Demon's Souls), 120fps definitely won't be supported. 60fps max.

I recently bought Sony X8000H during Sony Store Sale. It will last me for the entire PS5 generation. 4K HDR + 60fps is enough for me. Since I primarily play only single-player games (not interested in multiplayer or first-person shooters), so I don't need features such as 120fps, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) etc. As these features are only included in top of the line, high-end TV, which is quite expensive.

It's 4am here (9pm BST). Rumours that the preorders will go live right after, which means price and availability should be announced too.

Hopefully Sony Singapore have their **** together.

Oh thought I saw 1am. Their sites got to be prepared for a whole load of traffic man.

Hopefully it’s not the kind of regional announcement where Sony SG will be last to be allocated.

Here's what I expect to see at the showcase:

- Spider-Man: Miles Morales Gameplay

- Demon's Souls Gameplay (Rumored to be a launch title/within launch window)

- The Last of Us: Factions Multiplayer (PS4/PS5)

- VR Mode reveal trailer of Resident Evil 8: Village

- SOCOM PS5 (Developed by Guerrilla Games)

- Teaser of God of War: Ragnarok running in real-time. We'll get the first glimpse of Kratos on PS5. Highly detailed, a true generational leap over GOW 2018.

- Teaser trailer of Silent Hill PS5 (This is a long shot & probably unlikely to be shown here. Though the game is definitely in development, probably might be shown at another future event)

- Announcement of free Day One PS5 patch/update for some first-party games. Including The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel's Spider-Man etc. All running at native 4K at 60fps on PS5.

- Price:
PS5 USD $499, PS5 Digital Edition USD $399/$449

- Release Date: 13 November/20 November (Singapore release date might be early/mid December. Similar timeframe as PS4 in 2013)

I thought Singapore release date is same globally? So we have to wait for another month while other countries are already enjoying their consoles? Hmmmm

Edit: Yeah I just browsed my photos and saw that I purchased mine Dec. 2013 :(

I am also planning to purchase Sony X900H maybe 65" or 75". I just hope Sony will finally update the HDMI 2.1 soon. I'm scared I'll buy this TV with the promise of 2.1 features and sony will update it for months.

Crossing my fingers that 2.1 features will be released before PS5 launch.

Will game retail shops here in SG open their preorders after the announcement? With all the people hyped for this console, I'm scared I'll be late to the party :(

It's possible a lot of places will open preorders the next day without even knowing if they will have any units.

While the PS5 is supposed to be a world-wide launch, I'm still expecting Singapore to get screwed again.

If they announce that local preorder is open from Thu 17 Sep onwards, I plan on going to Sony Store in that morning to place deposit & directly preorder from them instead of game retail stores. Might have a better chance of securing a set & confirm collection on launch day, without stock shortages.

Definitely have to move fast though, as in preorder on Thursday itself & don't wait. Since its first come first serve, the names on the bottom of the list probably won't be able to purchase it at launch (Depending on max preorder quantity limit per store)

Thanks for your inputs bro. Will Sony Stores accept deposits on preorders? I have no experience buying ps4 stuffs at sony stores. I always buy at the nearest game retail stores haha

I'm not sure of the preorder process at Sony Store, but I think it might be the same as game retail stores. The standard small deposit is required to confirm order (Or I might be wrong, maybe Sony Store require full payment upfront etc. Have to wait & see)

Back in 2013, I preorder PS4 from the game store at AMK Hub, and purchase it on launch day in December. I remember $50 deposit is required in advance to secure a set. PS4 $639 sold out fast, only left the PS4 + Battlefield 4/Killzone bundle at $699. If I remember correctly, I think there's also a PS4 + Camera bundle.

Hoping to see a PS5 + Spider-Man: Miles Morales bundle this time around.

Is Spider-Man: Miles Morales a new game on its own or a continuation from 2018?
