I also keep my consoles, PS1-4, all tucked nicely with boxes in the storeroom, with the games and all except PS3 in the games room etc. But I'll manage the space. It should not interfere with living. The only consoles I had sold are the Game Boy and Nintendo DS (OG). I'll keep my PS5 if I'm getting the Pro but I'm not getting it. They are momentos to me and I see the value in them. Of course to many, this is like "eh don't waste space lah" haha.

I still have my old Jetfire toy (which is basically a Macross Valkyrie robot) bought from Yaohan Thomson in the mid 80s.

It was placed beside the window and now the white parts became very yellow but the toy is still intact despite all these years of playing. 😀

How did u guys even managed to keep the old console in good condition with singapore humid weather?
I am a toy collector and it is such a pain seeing all the toys suffering cos of the hunidity.

Toy collector here too, been collecting diecast robot toys since 1998, some of them dated from early to mid 80s like the Godaikin and old Sentai Force toys.

Indeed our local climate is not conducive to collections of any sort, best we can do is to have an enclosed room with aircon or at least keep the toys in cabinets with closed doors to minimize the damage and exposure to open air.

Some of my old Lego vehicle rubber tires now became sticky and left residue on the glass shelves. 😟

Just look at our Joined date, you'll know our rough age.
I'll say this... I'm so old, a pong machine and I were in a same room. (not mine, of cos)😟

I actually own a Pong TV console (late 70s?) and played it on our B&W TV while living in a cemetery Kampong (now occupied by Bishan Town).

Before the period where Arcade centers were banned, used to frequent them watching people play Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Galaxian, Climber etc. Even during the ban, I can go to the club houses where they're still allowed to have the arcade machines. 😁

I know you are the oldest here, Recce. (until some grandmaster coming down from the mountain)
Coincidentally, I was thinking of an "Im so old" joke.... I'm so old, I used to shop at Yaohan... :ROFLMAO:

We are so old, we used the term "TV game"....
If I mention "Western bar", you sure know what it is....yeah?

There's a period where arcade centers were banned? Never was a big arcade center chiongsters. Never good at them. But I fondly remember Afterburner in my secondary school days. Enjoyed playing Macross.(arcade game)

As I said here before, I don't grew up console gaming. I was more of a casual computer/PC gamer.

Just noticed the PS5 Pro 30th anniversary edition they only have 50 units for Singapore, which is half of my prediction of 100.

Haha, I'm so old when I go do "number 2" I had to go out the house, go to the back where there is an outhouse and do businese there. Then every once in a while someone on bicycle will come and clear the big metal bin of "solid waste".

I remembered once when I was doing my business, saw a hand pulling the bin below away, apparently the person come to clear the bin while I was still doing business, didn't bother to check anyone is in the outhouse.

The ban was from early 80s till to the 90s on the public arcade centers.

It was around 1984 during the ban when I bought my very first computer to play games, i.e. ZX Spectrum 48K, then a year later upgraded to the Amstrad CPC 464, and all the video game consoles from then on.

On the computer side, after the Amstard I bought the IBM PC XT Turbo clone for $2K (in 85/86), then the 286, 386, 486DX, Pentium 90 systems etc.

I don't have the original GB or GBC, only the GBA, GBA SP, NDS Lite, PSP Phat, PSP Slim, PS Vita. Now it's Anbernic, Powkiddy, Evercade etc for portables. 😁

Also collected a few of the mini arcade replicas like Taito Egret II Mini, Space Invaders, My Arcade Namco Museum, Data East Classics & Atari 50th Anniversary.

Lol, just saw a TGS 2024 youtube showing a very big booth for Palworld.

It's like a in-your-face Nintendo! 😁

Quickly buy it before Nintendo wins the lawsuit.

Jeez.... you're like a decade older than me.

I remember playing my cousin's Space Invaders. My family not rich, but we used to have Nintendo Game & Watch handheld(Octopus and Popeye)

My computer gaming started around 386/486 era. The Creative Soundblasters and the Voodoo 3D cards,,,

Speaking of old schools, there's a documentary about the origins/evolution of FPS shooters I recommend. A great watch, though a bit too long and uninteresting towards the end imo. Fond memories...

I had the Parachute, Octopus and Chef Game & Watch at different times.

My family also very low income, I save up my pocket money/ang bao money like 2 to 3 years before finally getting the ZX Spectrum. Also regularly followed my mother to go wash cloths for neighbors to earn small change. The $2K for the XT turbo was borrowed from my sister and needed it as I go Poly (Electronics & Computer Engineering).

Interesting that you mentioned the Sound Blaster as almost my whole working life I was in Creative Technology (>21 years). Left the company 10 years ago.

DOOM! I remembered my colleagues playing this multiplayer during lunch time in the office, our office desks are right in front of Sim Wong Hoo office back then and he would come out and watch us play.
