Updated the posts in the first page to reflect the following updates which affect Singte ONT users.

Continued after 24Hrs...

"Hi there! This is XXX from Home Department. Apologies, we no longer provide ONT. All of our broadband plans come with ONR.

Unfortunately, we do not provide for recontract as well. For recontract, if it's 2gbps, we only provide wireless router/mesh. If it's 5/10gbps, then we provide XGSPON ONR (which supports 5/10gb network)."

So...ITE liao! Not sure if Home Dept is related to retention dept or not though.

Okay, I believe this is the final answer already. The Home Department is supposed to be related to the Retention Department.

So I guess it is the time for users who want to continue using Singtel ONT plus their own router to prepare to move out of Singtel.

For Singtel users who use Singtel ONT plus Singtel issued router, they should have no issues to upgrade to Singtel 2Gbps plan with ONR (or newer 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps plan with XGS-PON ONR).

For no-frills, they will not install the router for you since the router is not included as part of the plan.

In fact, none of the ISPs will install your own router for you as far as I know, no matter which plan you go.

On the other hand, I remember you want to buy a high end Asus WiFi 7 router, it is anyway quite simple to follow the Asus guide to install by your own.

Nope, unless bought with BB plan, otherwise not installed together so no liability on MR's end if there's any subsequent issue.
Basically " No Frills" is DIY plan.

Hi, my broadband (Singtel 1Gbps, ONR) has ended contract. Am looking to subscribe to another ISP and have a few questions.

1) Is the switch immediate? Or do I need to keep the old internet line first until the new one is up and running?
2) Which ISP is good and stable? Am staying in the north so M1 6/10 gbps isn't available in my area. Am looking for a plan without any addon bundles like streaming subscriptions and such.

Always make sure your new internet connection is working properly before terminating the old one.

Xiaofan, why no recommend ViewQwest? Now their 3G is $18+

I do not believe there is such an offer -- none of the ISPs will be able to offer any plan at such price.

Anyway, I see that they offer this 3Gbps plan again, but at S$18.98 for the first 12 months and then S$40.98 for the next 12 months, so the effective price is at S$29.98 per month. I'd think Starhub 5Gbps offer at S$29.55 per month is better.

The 10Gbps 12.12 offer has the effective price at S$35 per month, which is actually quite a good offer. It is just that VQ is using CGNAT, so users who do not like CGNAT will need to pay S$4.03 per month extra (static IPv4 add-on).
https://viewqwest.com/sg/residential/broadband/

I will add the 3Gbps plan to the posts in the first page, in case this offer continues. As of now, it is a special 12.12 sale.

When MR installed my plan with their BE230 router, they wouldn't even set up their own router. Just open the box, plugged in and left. Told me to look for the wifi password on the label of the router.

The 3Gbps Singtel offer at S$29.90 per month has been documented in the first page of this thread for a while already.

++++++++++++++
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/3gbps-enhanced-plan (3Gbps offer at S$29.90 per month as of 26-Nov-2024, best value, for new users and targeted existing customers only, existing users not targeted may want to try to negotiate with Singtel to see if possible to get the same pricing for recontract)

I thought someone say SingTel has no ONT? Which means cannot since I will be using Ubiquiti or Omada.

You would have to take the risk and bridge the ONR yourself in order to get it working well with Ubiquiti / Omada. Otherwise you'll have double NAT.

May be easier for you to consider the Starhub ONT instead if there isn't a reason for selecting Singtel only.

Will EB810v router works better than ASUS router like BE25000? thanks!
My place quite small (800 sq ft) and previously only use 1 router is more than enough for the whole place
