And, Am just trying to give an example ..... On the "cost of waiting" ..... Didn't try to imply the best timing to buy StarHub :s22:

well let's look at it another way, to substitute the risk of opportunity costs (or your money sitting in the bank doing nothing), you can always look at other stocks instead.
my policy is a bit like DW, where i'm at least 85 to 90% vested in stocks.

lol.. yea...

Depends what price had you bought it for?

I'm vested (recently) and got it at the trough. Bought it due to great returns, good assets, good management. Just a lot of selling pressure. Not a good dividend stock, just hold it for appreciation. With proper monitoring of the management's business plan, this could be a gold if bought at the right price.

Recently CMA rallied a bit when it announced that they bought some China land for development (with CapitaLand).

anyone know what will happen when some of the properties in reit portfolio expired? Another round of debt financing will be occurring? Isnt that a snowballing effect?
Care to share your thoughts? thanks

Should be ba. Maybe higher interest rate will affect the DPU. But I think the interest rate will not increase so much ba? I mean if the interest rate increase by a high percent, you think the world economy can take it? I think sure will have another crisis. So I believe the increase in the interest rate will be a gradual process. For now I will still be vested in reits till I sense a drop in DPU or increase in liability due to higher interest rate.

I actually prefer the interest rate to increase fast and furious. Greater opportunity for market to overeact and we can scoop on cheap price. Even if market is rational and yield decreases (dpu decreases but price somehow hold), I am light weight on reits anyway. Still can wait somemore.

I doubt interest rate can increase fast and furious. It will increase but it will be gradual. My portfolio got more than 50% in reits so I hope it will continue to rise. Lol. For you I guess you still do not have a huge percent of reits in your portfolio so you hoping it to fall. Actually everything depends on supply and demand and who is in control. Buyer want buy low while seller wan sell high. I regretted not to buy suntec REIT at $1.50 so now price is hard to come down unless market got bad news.

Yeah, not really wise for the interest rates to shoot up so suddenly, might result in a far reaching ripple effect that no government wants... imagine even if u manage to get a good shopping sale but needed yearssss to recover? :s22:

I was also eyeing Suntec when it was 1.50 last year but didnt have enough ammo to unload that time!
