so many looking for relief already tell something is amiss. Who would want to half his income by sharing his car if can get full?
Uber clever wash hand off everything beside an app to drivers. If really lucrative tell them give you 5k salary monthly use their cars claim petrol and erp. Provide annual leave and days off too. This should be the way not the current situation.

Driving as a self employed is tedious. Cars have to go to riders to earn fare while other business stay put for customers to come and earn simultaneously.

if the owner wants to work 24/7 to earn all... can... else...finding someone to share the load isn't that bad...

Yo dear Uber Drivers, interested to earn extra side income while on the road meeting new faces?

Anyway, still deciding on whether to test test drive uber and grab myself to meet new people. But the opinions and feedback is mixed, but would like to know the probability of having a PMET as passenger?

It wont take you additional time doing this, and very attractive incentives. Real estate agents and sales experienced pals are most welcomed....

You can private msg me and we carry on from there..
Anyway, its banking and finance related

If I take Uber/taxi as a passenger and it becomes a sales pitch session...I will complain.

Just saying...

Got reply liao. Sunday also work

Hi xdd!

Thank you for having an interest in Uber.

Here are the requirements to be an Uber Partner:

1) Singapore PR or Citizen
2) Aged 25 or older
3) Have no been imprisoned for more than 7 days
4) Have a class 3 driving license

If you do pass the four requirements, you may go ahead and register at https://partners.uber.com/home/.

Register a company with ACRA with code 49219 (for PASSENGER LAND TRANSPORT NEC), or add business code 49219 to your existing company. To do so, go to:
ACRA at International Plaza, 10 Anson Road #05-01, or register your company online by going to: http://t.uber.com/ubersgbizfile

If you have your own vehicle, you would have to convert your private vehicle to a commercially registered vehicle. What we would need you to do is switch to commercial insurance on your vehicle (Tip: Negotiate to retain your NCD when changing your insurance plan to commercial) Then convert your vehicle to a Z10 or Z11 category. You could visit the LTA at 1 Hampshire Road or 10 Sin Ming Drive to do this. Fill out form M01 (Application Form for Transfer of Vehicle) to transfer ownership of your vehicle to your company. Submit your M01 form to change the vehicle type of your car from P10/P11 to Z10/Z11.

Rent a vehicle from a car rental company. You must make sure that the your rented vehicle has:
- Comprehensive commercial insurance (including service and maintenance)
- Vehicle registration as a Z10 or Z11 vehicle
- Ask an Uber team member if you need some suggestions on rental partners, or visit www.sgcarmart.com or www.drive.sg

The company now that we are recommending is Krys (Lion City Rentals) at 84333974 (mobile) during 0930-1730hrs or email them at rentals@lioncityrentals.net

Come to our office to get activated and start driving!

Time: Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri, 10am-5pm
Location:Mid View City, #01-14, 18 Sin Ming Lane 573960

You’ll need to bring:
- Your NRIC and a valid driver’s license;
- Your business registration from ACRA showing business code 49219;
- Proof of commercial insurance for your vehicle;
- Vehicle log showing Z10 or Z11 registration
- Within one month of being activated, we’ll need you to submit a signed mandatory Statutory Declaration form (please see attached)
[Optional] Register to be a relief driver here: http://t.uber.com/ubersgdriverelief

Hope to have you on the team soon!

Regards,
Hazel

Looks like Uber drivers need to get a taxi driver vocational licence quickly.

Edit: Sorry I did not read properly. This press release is for taxi booking not about UberX or GrabCar. So Uber drivers don't need taxi driver licence for now.

www lta gov sg/apps/news/page.aspx?c=2&id=193b3496-9acd-4473-833e-b2b5d2bf5eaa

TWO THIRD-PARTY TAXI BOOKING MOBILE APPLICATIONS ISSUED WITH CERTIFICATES OF REGISTRATION

News Releases 1 Dec 2015

1. Grab Taxi Pte Ltd and Hailo Singapore Pte Ltd have been issued certificates of registration to operate their third-party taxi booking mobile applications in Singapore. The certificates are valid for three years starting from 1 December 2015.

2. In addition, radiophone taxi-booking operators Taman Jurong Radiophone Taxi Services and Boon Lay Garden Radio Taxi Services have also been issued certificates of registration. These are similarly valid for three years starting from 1 December 2015.[1]

3. As part of the requirements of the newly enacted Third-Party Taxi Booking Service Providers Act, all third-party taxi booking services with more than 20 participating taxis are required to register with the Land Transport Authority (LTA). New service providers must apply to register with the LTA and receive their certificates of registration before they can operate in Singapore. Existing service providers which were already operating before 1 September 2015 are allowed to continue operating without a certificate of registration. As a transitory measure, if these existing service providers had applied to register with LTA before 1 December 2015, they will be allowed to operate without a certificate of registration until their application has been processed.

4. LTA is currently processing applications from the following service providers: UberTAXI, MoobiTaxi, Karhoo, and ConnexTaxi. As Karhoo and ConnexTaxi are new providers which had not started operations before 1 September 2015, they must receive the certification of registration before operating. The results of the applications will be published on LTA’s website.

5. LTA has rejected one application by PAIR Taxi, as its fare model did not meet the fare charging conditions stipulated in the regulatory framework. Service providers which operate without certificates of registration are liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or both.

6. Registered service providers must comply with the following conditions:

Dispatch only licensed taxis and drivers holding valid Taxi Driver’s Vocational Licences

This ensures that commuters are served by taxis and taxi drivers who are operating legally in Singapore, i.e. they are regulated under LTA’s Taxi Quality of Service (QoS) and the Taxi Driver’s Vocational Licence (TDVL) regulatory frameworks.

Non-taxi booking options (e.g. booking of Private Hire Cars) must be differentiated from the taxi booking option, and commuters must be given the option to refuse such non-taxi options.

Fare-related safeguards for commuters

All information on fare rates, surcharges and fees payable for the journey must be specified to commuters upfront, before commuters accept the dispatched taxi. These include the flag-down fare, the distance and time rates, the booking fee charged by the service provider, and where applicable, peak period and location surcharges. Alternatively, third-party taxi booking services can provide commuters with the option to set their user preferences to automatically reject certain types of taxis or taxis with certain fare rates and surcharges.

To ensure that taxi services remain equally accessible to all members of the public, bidding and pre-trip tipping for taxi services are not allowed. In addition, the booking fees charged by third-party taxi booking services cannot exceed the booking fees charged by taxi companies.

Taxi booking services cannot require commuters to specify their destinations when making bookings

While the taxi industry has shared that knowing prospective passengers’ destinations can encourage drivers to accept bookings, there are concerns amongst commuters that some taxi drivers may avoid bookings to certain destinations. Thus, the regulatory framework prohibits third-party taxi booking services from requiring commuters to specify their destination when making bookings. Nevertheless, commuters can still do so if they wish to.

Allow commuters to indicate special needs

Third-party taxi booking services must allow commuters to indicate special needs (e.g. wheelchair or bulky luggage).

Customer support services for commuters

Third-party taxi booking services will be required to provide basic customer support services, such as lost and found services and avenues for commuters to raise queries and complaints.

For the list of registered third-party taxi booking service providers, please refer to LTA’s website: www lta gov sg.

[1] Taman Jurong and Boon Lay are existing operators which use radiophones to serve niche taxi-booking services for certain commuter groups or geographical areas, e.g. in industrial areas and for corporate bookings. Even though they do not utilise mobile applications to provide services, they are nonetheless offering third party matching services, and in line with the objective of safeguarding commuter interests and the regulations under the Third-Party Taxi Booking Service Providers Act, they are required to register with the LTA.

Tax Implications

I attended a briefing session but did not get the clarifications that I needed. So I looked up myself and hopefully the below information is useful for some of you out there:

Tax Implications
The NETT income derived from UBER (after the 20% commission) is subjected to tax at the end of the year. As you will be registering as a sole proprietor business, the tax actually falls under your own Income Tax portion rather than the Corporate Tax portion (which currently stands at 17%). How much is the income tax rate depends on which income bracket your UBER income falls under (after taking into account all other incomes you have, this is on top of that).

And sorry to say that unlike Taxis where you can claim parking, diesel etc. as operating cost and is tax deductible/can be claimed as tax relief, private hire cars do not have that.

"Private Hire Cars/Private Car Expenses
Expenses incurred directly or in the form of reimbursement on using private hire cars or private cars (E, Q or S-plate cars) such as repair, maintenance, parking fees, petrol costs are disallowable.
Note: These expenses are not deductible even if the private cars were used for business purposes."
- Info extracted from IRAS.

Also, another question for those planning to commit their own cars, to scratch their heads over, do we need to open a corporate bank account for UBER purposes since we are registering a business to operate?
