Before changing to the Singtel SIM Only (S$20 --> S$20.37 --> S$15.28), I was using Singtel Combo 2 plan with very limited data (2GB by default, 3GB with some offers, x2 add-on to get 6GB). Then I have my Starhub Happy Prepaid card as well (my main number before signing up for Singtel Mobile in Sept 2013), which I still keep now since I got the S$3 per month migration offer in Nov 2025.

Then for occassional travel needs, I would pay a bit for Starhub Happy Prepaid roaming data for short trip and then local SIM if needed.

The Singtel line was able to receive free incoming SMS without roaming data plan at that time -- 3G days.

Exception -- I was holding a company phone for one year plus with Singtel Mobile Combo 3 and roaming enabled -- paid by company for business trip. I knew the price of high roaming voice charges as I needed to use the phone for some voice calls.
hi xiaofan, so do we unsubscribe to Pay-As-U-Roam in the Singtel app? It's active by default I think.

the Auto-subscribe to ReadyRoam is already active.

Yes, both are on by default.

"Auto-Subscribe to ReadyRoam" should take care of roaming data.

"Pay-As-U-Roam" is still needed for roaming voice and roaming SMS.

I am keeping both.

thanks. confusing sia. AI says I should turn off data roaming on the phone when overseas. it's already off by default. but if I go m'sia, where the 1528 plan covers 50gb of data in m'asia, I should turn on data roaming right?

1) Roaming data
Mobile Phone roaming ON: only for Malaysia since SingTel S$15.28 plan has 50GB Malaysia roaming data.

Mobile Phone roaming OFF: for other places. Use other providers like eight or Zym or travel eSIM for roaming data, if you do not want to pay for ReadyRoam.

2) Roaming incoming SMS: free

3) Roaming outgoing SMS: not free, try to avoid. Not so useful now in any case.

4) Roaming incoming/outgoing voice: try to avoid during travel. Just ignore the call will usually be okay. Use eight or SIMBA or StarHub new Prepaid for this purpose if you need to.

IMHO.
I think switch to Zym not so much headache. :ROFLMAO:

As mentioned earlier, if you are so much into roaming needs, then better avoid Singtel SIM Only S$15.28 plan.

Zym and VIVIFI (both Singtel MVNOs) have 10 minutes free incoming roaming voice call, so they are a good alternative in this case, if Singtel network is your preferred network.

Switching to eight 5G S$10.8 or S$14.8 plan is even less troublesome as it has free roaming voice (but no outgoing roaming SMS). Or switching to StarHub Prepaid S$15 5G plan which provides free roaming voice and free roaming SMS. Of course you need to check whether StarHub 5G/4G networks are good for you or not for local usage.

Switch to Eigh or Simba, even lesser headache  + cheaper.
No brainer. no need to be tied down by stupid contracts.
IMHO.
Simba, big NO. Last time I recommended to someone for overseas in USA, can't work at all - poor customer service. I still have one plan, to remind how slow it is.
Eight - I am on Eight. Like to switch to 4G.

Singtel Sim Only - no contract what. :ROFLMAO:

Noticed more frequent fallback to 4G in areas with bad signal. Seem like they started to turn off 5G NSA for postpaid customers.
IMHO.
I am in a area that they turn off 5G NSA, my 5G+ (like EIght 5G) likes to go into 4G mode.
Takes awhile to come back to 5G.

Don’t like SingTel tactic to tie you down. Eg base plan 30GB, contract ends on 8th. Cannot be from previous month till 7th don’t use more than 30GB. Any exceed they charge so much.

How they form the plan also a bit weird.
Like my Priority Plus, something like 600GB base, 400GB additional and Data X Infinity.
If unlimited just put unlimited lah !

First time in recent to see my Singtel S$15.28 main line to drop to 4G near to my home (near to Jurong Point) -- in my block's lift and only recovered about 30 seconds later to 5G SA.

Previously it was either 5G NSA or 5G SA in the lift.

Based on the reports from other SingTel MVNO threads, looks like they really start to turn off 5G NSA.

No idea whether they will really finish the job by end of June 2026.

I will need to monitor the situation. I expect the user experience to drop when they turn 5G NSA but let's wait and see.

I am starting to think about the possibility to remove most of the SingTel services like Singtel Fibre (if got no good promotion again like in August 2024) and even my own Singtel SIM Only S$15.28 main line, only keeping my wife's S$15.28 plan.

Alternative: StarHub Fibre Broadband and eight 5G S$10.8/S$14.8 plan or StarHub Prepaid S$15 5G plan.

My Eight 5G and Eight Broadband is $14.80 + $23.62 = $38.42

Whenever 5G SA drop to 4G+, it took awhile to switch back to 5G SA. Have to manually toggle airplane mode then can get back to 5G.

For the instance this morning, no need to go airplane mode as the Singtel 5G signal is pretty strong in my area. Actutally M1/Starhub 5G signal are also pretty good around Jurong Point area.
