Hey guys quite curious why would anyone sign up for the $15 plan when basically all the other MVNOs are offering $7.50 after 6 months port in discounted?

Granted you'll have to port out somewhere for a month at like $10, it's still essentially a 50% savings in the long term.

Is Customer Service that important when you basically will never really contact them ever?

Can't really think any other factors are worth the extra $7.50, MVNOs eSIM also have, 5G also have, and actually with the bonus roaming data to hot spots like Japan and Thailand, it doesn't make any sense to sign up with Singtel directly.

ST Direct provide 5G+ service with better network slicing than MVNOs is the idea there.

For customers on Singtel Minions (Zero1 / Zym / Vivifi) and the other CMLink, i wonder if people have tried signing up the Singtel SIM Only $15/mth.

Technically, we are also Singtel base customers. Zero1, zym and vivifi are partners of Singtel. We are counted towards singtel subscribers.

So far never see any reports of people successfully subscribed to singtel sim only plans from the minions telcos

Cannot, not even SingTel Gomo or SingTel Heya customers.

But previously, Singtel 60-day free eSIM trial users were able to sign up. The trial has finished though.

That being said, once Singtel MVNOs get 5G SA and 5G+, I think the benefits of Singtel S$15.28 per month plan will be less.

Based on the reports, Singtel based MVNOs have already got pretty good coverage and speed with 5G NSA and 4G LTE-A. Then there are roaming related benefits or cost advantages as well.

All in all, nothing wrong to choose either Singtel MVNOs, or Singtel SIM Only, or Gomo, just different preferences.

I actually want to try Eight because it seems to be popular (before Eight I wanted to try Giga). We have three old StarHub Prepaid Cards going to be converted to the new StarHub Prepaid Plan (used to be called Star Prepaid Plan) soon. Only one of them is actively used by my daughter. The other two are just kept for historical reasons (my main number and my wife main phone number before changing to Singtel Mobile back in 2013/2017).

I will wait and see how the new StarHub Prepaid Plan goes. I may well migrate one of them to SIMBA and then port-in to Eight. Or I can play with SIMBA first and then Eight and then other MVNOs.

This discount is short term one time thing. Most of those on the $15.28 plan thinks long term, for years or decades

I would believe the biggest factor is confidence. Many are long time Singtel customer, and have trust them for a long time and don't mind the $15.28 price. Stability is a top priority, and the perception of Singtel being a primer provider also plays a key part here. Priority+ for high density environment is just the icing on the cake.
What you see as $7.78 savings is just another meal in the food court.

Roaming is just an afterthought, conditioned by the traffic light telcos over the years. After all most of the time are spend in Singapore, with only occasional requirement for roaming, so it is nice but not important.

feels negligible though, i mean unless you're downloading big files etc.

Actually the speed difference may not be big between Singtel MVNOs vs Singtel SIM Only S$15.28 per month plan (Singtel 5G+).

Once Singtel MVNOs get 5G SA, then the benefits of the Singtel SIM Only S$15.28 per month plan (Singtel 5G+, only for recontract, not for new users, not for port-in, not for Singtel Gomo or Singtel Heya customers) may be less. The Singtel MVNOs' offerings may have some advantages as well like more data bundle and more roaming locations, which may or may not be important to the users.

Nothing wrong to select either one. Each person may have their own preferences.

BTW, S$15.28 per month is not that expensive either compared to other 5G enabled plans. Please check out the following post by me.

I honestly don't think Singtel would ever give SA access to it's MVNOs in order to hard segregate the experience it's MVNOs are established for.

They must and they need to, IMDA said that. Most of us using Singtel MVNO's are transiting into 5G SA with 5G+ plans. By end december, we will be using ST 5G SA.

correct me if i'm wrong, the $15 plan needs to be renewed every year as well.
if one assumes singtel allows the $15 plan to remain in 12 months time, one should also assume the $7.50 plans can continue on (albeit maybe having to port out and back in)

you don't equate stability with Singtel compared with Singtel's MVNOs?

actually i'm just curious why no one has been pushing the Singtel MVNO plans more than the $15 one.

After the 12 months ST will start charging for Caller ID and maybe also 5G access.

There is a reasonable chance the $15.28 Singtel plan will continue in a year's time so that one can recontract.
Thinking back maybe I should have taken the free esim offer & convert to the $15.28 plan, just for VoWifi.
But certainly not with the current options.

It is unlikely that the free 6 months plan will continue beyond October, and almost certainly not beyond 2025.

Singtel vs Singtel MVNO is a perception thing.
Is there is a difference ? Probably. Is it significant ? Depends on who you ask.

Why would anyone want to go anything higher than the $15.28 plan ?
The reason to go for this plan is to be on Singtel for the lowest price, the value proposition for higher plans is simply not there.

When Eight priced its cheapest 5G plan at $14.80, my first thought was "might as well go for Singtel's $15.28 plan."

I converted one of my Eight lines to 5G plan mainly to play2. No contract mah.
