I also want to kno this
been thinking of getting WD Scorpion Blue 500GB and installing myself but i dont really have the tools necessary to open my mac - plus i have very sweaty hands and im really worried to touch something and break my macbook pro (2010 model)

Any reputable shop that can do upgrade hdd for us for a small fee?

For the Unibody MBPs, it is much easier to replace the HDD. My Pre-Unibody 15" MBP had more than 20 screws! However, I've managed to replace the HDD to a WD Black Scorpio 500GB last month!

I suppose you can purchase the items in SLSQ and take your time to replace the items at home. Just slowly and steadily! :)

4GB + 2GB

you will be wasting other 2GB by buying 2x4GB

Contact Kaira?

While you're at it, could you do me a favour and check for the latest 2x4GB 1333Mhz ones too, for the latest MBPs? Thanks! =)

What SSD considerations for MBP 15" 2010?

Need help from the wise MBP users here.

I have a 2010 15" MBP, have no intention of getting the latest version of MBP for the right reasons. Now thinking of upgrading my HD to a 128GB SSD. What considerations should I be looking at when getting one?

I read about performance degradation and and MBP problems with SSDs and all that stuff, but I have no clue as to what all this means.

with the latest SSDs, you shouldn't be facing any of those problems. Performance degradation happens when you used all the cells in the SSD and need to write over new data on it. The SSD need to clean up the cell first before you can do that, slowing down the write times.
