Hey guys, I just bought a Macbook Pro 15inch, I'm thinking of upgrading the RAM to 8GB when my Macbook comes. Just wondering where in Singapore can I get the cheapest and most safe deal?

I got mine from the Apple Reseller at SLS, 6th Floor: idt Gallery.

SGL Marketing on 2nd Floor also sells them. Can fix for you too n offset your cost by selling your 2X2GB to them..But make sure you don't turn on your set first.

hi all,

i'm thinking of upgrading my 2009 unibody mbp 13" to 6/8gb.

should i juz get a 4gb ram to install? or should i upg directly to 8gb? will there be conflicts when i use different rams like 1x4gb (ks), 1x2gb (apple stock ram)?

my mbp is usually for normal sch (uni) work, light photoshop, no games etc.. i've intention to upg to WD scorpio black or ssd late this year.

any advice would be appreciated!

Hmmm... i thought we must keep the stock apple RAM if there's any warranty issues? What is the cost for your 8GB RAM?

You may like to upgrade the RAM to 8GB. Just get 2x4GB from Sim Lim or one of the Apple resellers.

Officially 4, unofficially up to 6GB.

Anything more and you will have system instability.

Well, they are soldered on so you cannot change them on your own without damaging it.

Replacing 13" Macbook pro (mid 2009)'s HDD

Dear all gurus,

Owning a macbook pro 13", the mid 2009 version. Was thinking to upgrading my HDD during this IT show as my original disk space will be running out soon. was thinking of 320gb to 500gb so would like to seek your advise on the following:

Any compatibility issue with brand of HDD? any recommendation?
How to upgrade in term of moving data over to the new one? I'm using a time machine would it helps?
any thing in particular I need to take note?

Appreciate your advise in advance!

Thanks for recommendation ! So what should I do after getting e hdd? More toward e transferring of data, setting everything aspect?

You can get the WD 500GB 7200rpm. It's known as the Black Scorpio. It does improves the speed significantly. I have just upgraded mine last month.

Don't actually need a technician to go over to your place to install. There are several videos around, you can just watch and follow the instructions carefully. :)

I am using late 2008 MacBook unibody and I have installed 8GB rams with no problems..just need to get the 1066 ones instead of the common 1333 ones...i tried opening 3 virtual machines at once to fill up the 8gb..no issues :)

RAM of iMac is the easiest to change.

No need technician. Just buy the RAM n DIY.

4GB RAM is around $150. iMac can take up to 16GB.....HOOT ah
