i am doing so now

Iphone 4 with orignal singtel plan and the other my old iphone 2 with 3g pre-paid singtel card.

but the setting must be the same, ie THE SAME NUMBER to install

how can an original singtel plan and pre-paid card holding the same number....????

i think u are referring to installing whatsapp app on 2 different phone...

whatapp runs on apple push notifications... these push notifications are sent to only 1 device with the unique device identifier... something like your router's mac address. even if 2 devices are using the same number, only 1 device will be notified ultimately.

Hi guys,

Currently i on M1 and got whatapps installed on my iphone 4, if i use another number from singtel. Does it mean i need to re-purchase whatsapp again?

I think whatsapp only allow certain number of times of change....I got to that screen once when whatsapp was down and I was told to re-register...

dunno they got minus off 1 time or not....

I had tried just now, they ask me to re-enter the number i received from their sms, key in and can use already.

Serious? what's your install process? Because i can't run both my ipod touch and android together. It will say something like whatsapp is installed in another device and can only work in one device at a time..

so everytime i run whatsapp and authenticate it on my ipod touch, i need to reinstall and re-authenticate on my android.

How does yours work?

Last week I was in Thailand and used a Thai sim in my iphone. I realized I was getting whatsapp messages even tho the phone number was different. I thought whatsapp is tied to phone number? Or is it not?

Ya, I am facing some problem connecting with SingTel mobile BB. Can see the notification for msg but cannot connect to view. Everything back to normal after switching to wifi.

At this moment, 17:57hrs on 19th June 2011, WhatsApp does indeed unable to connect to network/whatsapp server when the device is connected to SingTel 3G.

Switch to WiFi to connect to internet via SingTel Magix broadband works fine.

Anyways, yes singtel mobile routing has issue to whatsapp server now.

hi I now in hk, I take out my local sim card and bought a hk data plan mobile bb card and did not uninstall my current whatapp and now I in hk I can send msg to friend in sg will i get charge roam card not.

I have personally tried using a oversea card in Thailand, and whatsapp works, and all data charges are to the overseas card, not the Singtel card.


Regarding the part whereby someone was asking if whatsapp was tied to the mobile, I think how it works is that, it is registered to your SG mobile no. rather than self detecting the SIM card which was placed in the phone.

So you could actually use any iPhone/BB/ipod touch and register whatsapp (with the notification sms to your actual mobile number) and it will work as YOUR whatsapp.

One thing to note thou, you could only register your whatsapp to only 1 device at any one time, meaning that if you register a 2nd device, the first one will be unregistered.

haha thats why i off the sound for notification.. i have friend who msg in the group chat at 3am,5am and 7am. depending on what they are doing..hahahaha
