I sometimes have the same problem. Occasionally its due to the phone not being able to sense the signal. No idea why but it happens. A hardware problem i guess?

My XZ is prone to dropping wifi connections. It can lose the signal even when the router is less than 10m away. My other devices seems to be working fine at distances greater than that so its definitely not a router issue. However the cellular signal reception seems to be stronger than my IP4.

Google has not incorporated Qualcomm's fix to the WLAN prima drivers. in the meanwhile, you can try to alleviate the situation by disabling Beacon Mode Power Saving.

For those who wish to install some of the Sony apps from the leaked 4.2.2 JB stock ROM onto your Xperia devices, you can get them from here:

New Sony Apps from Xperia Z Leak 4.2.2 - xda-developers

I didn't try installing all of the apps, but I replaced the Movie app in my Xperia Z and it works great. :)

Brother, saw your posting that you need to rename previous file then change the permission for the new movie app.

I just install and my phone is not rooted but I don't see any difference.

Which app did you try to install?

Ha Ha, I install all the apps attached in that post. =:p

I tried to install the Movie app via normal way (i.e. just like any apk file) but get the error "Application not installed".

I think for some of the apps, they are not that much different from the current one, so you can't tell the difference. Maybe you want to check the version number of the apps under Settings -> Apps, to double-check that they installed properly?

The UI for the Movie app has definitely changed.

I see, my UI for Movie App is still the same so probably need rooting of the phone.

Bought my Xperia Z from Kasia Mobile today.

However, one question came to mind: is the.box supposed to have any security seal? There is only the plastic wrapping and the set has singtel apps preinstalled which is funny...

Nothing wrong with that as the KASIA's stocks are from Singtel, they are the shop which throw prices during Xperia Z launch in Singapore resulting Sony Mobile warn them about posting prices on their websites.

Need root and mount rw

/etc/firmware/wlan

Open with text editor WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini

search for gEnableBmps=1 and edit the value to 0.

Warning: this has a significant impact on battery life.
