yeah, if repair free still ok la. 50 dollar i think too much le. For plastic flap 50 dollar. ._." however that time I send it in they did repair the flaps at headphone jack for free
I called the Wisma outlet and just spoke to the pinoy on the phone.
He said sorry, the usb flap is not covered under warranty cos its not a manufacturing defect.
meaning have to pay. cos I asked if I have to pay.
can send to either wisma or J8 for servicing he says.
How much does it cost?
"sorry sir that one i do not know."
FVCK
this really upsets me. I can:
1) wait till my 12 months of subscription is over, then trade in this phone (after i put double sided tape to stick the flap back and conceal it from the starhub staff) and get the Z1. and live with the same problem again....
or
2) I should simply jump to Samsung already.
yes, if I get the Z1, the worn out flap would not set in so fast cos I can then charge my phone with the dock or the magnetic cable.... but sooner or later the flap will spoil right? if I really like the phone, then I might use it for more than 12 months, which is use for 12 months x 2, and within that period, the flap will give way.
its kinda silly to buy a phone knowing that one part will surely spoil and you'll have to either live with the problem (loose flap) or get it fixed and pay at a cut throat price.
its like one willingly pays to be held hostage.
Given a choice, Sony Singapore can either:
1) continue to charge their consumers 50 to 60 bucks to fix this poorly designed and manufactured part... or,
2) display a gesture of goodwill and fix these spoilt flaps for free during a consumer's warranty period, something which I think is a given anyway.
It does more harm than good when they are collecting $50/$60 per flap, as opposed to, vice versa, doing more good to their reputation when they can just replace this cheapo plastic for free.
cos honestly, what are the costs involved for them to replace this flap? considering the spare part, man hours spent, etc.... $5? $10? $20 per person?
Given the long illustrious history and the size of this billion dollar MNC, I think its a disgrace for Sony Singapore to allow something like this to happen.
So here's a question,
knowing that the flap/s will spoil within the warranty period should you open and close it often and that you have to pay to get it repaired, would you still buy the Z1, Z Ultra or the newer Z successor?
Yes I know that many users here will say: 1) I dont open and close the flap often, so it wont spoil so soon. or 2) I will change to a new phone before the flap spoils, so there wont be any issue.
Yeah, many of you guys change phones every few months, or soon enough before the 12 + 3 months warranty expires. But there are some not so rich/crazy users who use their phones for 21 months or more.
Let's not forget about the Z tablet too. thats not something you will be likely to change every 6 months...... So, will you buy the Xperia Z tablet if you know of this existing problem?
