If you don't know what you are talking about, please keep the comments to yourself.

The only brand I know who sell their handset at an extremely high premium is Apple. Just look at their annual financial announcements.

XZ is meant to be used in water. Water proofing problem could come from QC over at their manufacturing plant. If such is the case, the plant will have to compensate Sony.

So far I've brought it into showers, baths, onsen and swimming pool. I don't have a problem. It could just be a later batch, which would point further to the QC issue.

I think I have the same batch as yours. Mine is not QC issue, mine should be the rubber broke after opening and closing the flap many time.

That's user's usage. This falls under wear and tear. Well... I don't use the flaps unless I need to upgrade the firmware. Charging with a dock, and any transfer is done wirelessly.

This is the inevitable culprit. As darknez said, we can circumvent opening the flaps for charging and file transfer, but for people who uses the headphone jack often, the flap is going to be subjected to significant wear and tear.

hush66 is right. StarHub stopped carrying the Xperia Z so you have to find out whichever shop still has old stock.

Actually, I believe StarHub don't carry so much Sony phone stocks as compared to SingTel and M1. In fact, SingTel has a much closer working relationship with Sony which can be seen from many past Sony models exclusive to SingTel like Xperia P and Xperia J etc...

Nice info!

As soon as we see the bigger silhouette of XZU towards the end of this month, the price will sure come down. And then there is the October launch of Honami.....

I just came back from a long period spent with Samsung's biggest phones, last of which was the Note II. So I can easily tell you, no. But for the same screen size, this is a slightly bigger one most 5-inchers. However, it is also one of the most comfortable to have in hand.

Try the major brands, of which Sony seldom disappoints. Going with those sold in Q0010 is quite risky, especially when it comes to unbranded electronics.

Unlikely to get it here, but the better device will replace it. Look for i1 Honami.

ThankU so much for the nice and detailed reply! :zonia:

Just thought I'd ask if anyone has the possible solution to this niggling preference of mine:

With the new 4.2.2 Android version, our lockscreens now have the split second "border" around the clock and the sides of the lockscreen when the power button is pressed. Does anyone know how to disable this? Also, there are the words "Swipe up or down to unlock" as well. I'd like disable this as well. Does anyone know how to do it? :)

I very much prefer the old lockscreen where everything is much cleaner.

It's more likely YOU don't get what I MEANT, not another way round.
Firstly, I didn't said EXTREMELY, just merely HIGH MARKUP (Which is VERY understandable, and that APPLIED to almost every phone so that they will not incurred any loss due to damages and services repair).

XZ isnt meant to be USED in water, it just...WATER resistant. Need to check me to explain more details?

Obviously YOU have no ideas what am i responding to. There are a lot of bros here having water mark issues, and there is no way SONY will be in any troubles.

So many recent problems with this product, i already stop washing my phone, only dare to use wet tissue =)

The thing is, Xperia Z is Dust and water resistant IP55 & IP57
- Protected against effects of immersion
Sony themselves had said that it is going to be able to be dip inside water for 30 mins to a certain depth. So normal washing should not be an issue.

What do you mean by can't connect to wifi? Your router restart?

No point doing that la. If your rubber is good, the water won't get in one. Just need to ensure all the flaps are close before soaking it in water.

It keeps getting stuck at obtaining an i.p. address.

One way that i seem to be able to work around it if it happens is to re-key in the wireless password but i can't be doing it all the time i want to connect to wi-fi its so troublesome.

Will try to restart the router next time it happens.

Yup so isn't what I said that it will be user fault that the water mark is red? So we just llst? Even if the quality product is flawed?

Of course not LLST la. If you know you never close the flap than is your fault la. If you close flap and water still get in, that will be a different story. :s12:
