Modern electric trains especially in urban networks are highly dependent on each other due to regenerative braking.

They usually use the braking of one train to help accelerate the other train away from the station.

That’s why you cannot simultaneously start all trains along the line, usually trains are progressively added to the line.

It seems like they tried to divert power from the circle line and overloaded that circuit.

Some countries with older networks are still buying diesel electric trains for greater reliability.

They can consider buying a small fleet of diesel electric to use during the weekends along with reduced hours for more maintenance to be done.

Dunno isit a lack of proper preventive maintenance again to detect the failure preemptively to replace the faulty parts

kinda show our mrt system has no redundancies built in, aka built to fail.......

not the first time liao leh.. It will Continue and continue. This is call trend.. I don't think these hiccups will stop totally. (like at least 4 to 5 years of 100% functioning with no disruptions)

And our population is big, just yesterday already see the bus interchange flooded can't cope with the load.

I think tuck yew and ye kung is some of the most humble ministers

humble and sorry is useless, most useless in private sector...........

get the root cause analysis, identify the problem, formulate a solution, deploy the solution, measure the result with the appropriate metrics, get back to the public in 3-6 months time with the results......

sorry and then thats it? kana fired in pte sector long time liao.....

to be honest, the handling was bad. should have free buses and better management.

It is very difficult to react last min unless they are breaking down every day.
It will take time to recall and plan all the resources according to the affected stations.
That is the reality and limitation of the situation that we have to faced.

It is a blessing that they can recover and repair the situation and not close shop for the night.
Or having the system handicapped for one week.

though hindsight is **** of a thing to bring up

wonder if they ever considered reducing service hours or even partial shutdown of train lines for maintenance during earlier ** phase 1 and 2...

track related maintenance is like race against time.

service crew probably can only start work at 12:30am, but must finish and clear and run reliability checks by 5 am... those 5 hours in the dark have to squeeze the max work done, also subjected to CAT1

This sounds very logical but at the same time very evil.

Office workers lives and comfort are so important that essential workers have to risk their lives to do non essential maintenance?
