TP aka Termination Point = OpenNet
ONT aka Optical network Terminal = Nucleus Connect

What i'm puzzled is, both location of TP or ONT wont affect the signal that is coming into your home nor does it provide any wireless coverage at all.

ONT installation not necessary done by NC, ST and SH deployed their own staff.

ST most probably referring to wifi signal from RG but to relocate TP/ONT just becoz of this is over-done IMO.

sorry, can show pic of your ONT and RG - showing the connectors?

from the opennet brochure, it shows that there are few rj45 connectors .
can we connect few laptops directly using LAN cables?

pls advise which router brand/model that has a rj11 connector.
Is there a device that connects directly to the ONT just for Digital Voice?

presently i m on sh cable broadband, my digital voice is from my motorola modem and tplink router is connected to my modem for wireless.

1) Can only show u tonight when i'm home
2) I'm with M1 Fibre BB
3) Need to let me know which ISP you subscribing from?

ONT comes with 4 RJ45 ports but only 1 port can be use to connect to the internet, the rest is lock. What you can do is to actually use a switch.

My connection,

TP--(Fibre Line)-->ONT--(RJ45)-->Huawei HG256--(RJ45)-->Linksys E1000

I understand that Linksys has a router which has VoIP capability but ISP doesnt allow u to use your own router for VoIP services which means, u gonna get their RG instead.

My ONT was done by NC staff. As per most consumer from M1 did.Probably dependent on ISP on this.

not sign up yet. may sign up with M1 as their price looks ok....
trying to understand what is needed for fiber, to ensure that i can get the services that i have with my existing broadband setup...

Just curious, why do u need the Linksys E1000 when HG256 alry is wired, wifi and VOIP capable?

I dont like HG256 wlan capability, only using it for VoIP while wired/wireless is handled by my linksys router.

so u ask them to move ? need pay ? :s22: should b chargeable right.. ?

Dunno, but I will sure go slam table if they gonna charge me $450. Its fine to pay for the extra cable length.

OpenNet don't install ONT leh, you meant TP issit?

What a whole lot of rubbish from ST, what signal they talking about? Wifi coverage can be easily resolved using repeater, their RG suck in the first place wah.

Yes, its TP, sorry for typo, not very good with all these n not home when they came down. He just refused to do anything and ask us to contact opennet to relocate.

For those who intend to sign package with Mio TV, ur TP needs to be near to ur TV cause TV signal cannot go wireless. Unless u hv existing cable or dun mind laying cables or u can try stuffs like homeplugs.

My TP installation is scheduled on early March and I'd like to know out of all the 3 major ISPs providing fibre broadband services, which is the least problematic?

I accept the fact that this technology's deployment is still at its infancy and will likely run into hiccups, hence I hope to find out which ISP (ST, M1, SH) has relatively better tech support (phone, onsite) in this area.

I've been with M1's cable broadband and their customer service level is pretty acceptable, so I'm more inclined to sign up with M1 at this moment.

just to confirm, i called starhub and they said that i need to arrange for the ONT setup. is it rite?

TP = opennet (scheduled)
ONT = must i arrange with Nucleus Connect for the ONT after the TP installation?
RG = sign up with ISP and they will give us the RG, starhub say free, huawei 256s?

For M1,

M1 will setup appt with NC to go over ur place for ONT installation(Installation charge applicable unless otherwise stated), RG is provided by ISP when you sign up.

But for M1 if u dont need the VoIP, you can opt out from renting their RG and use ur own router instead.Renting of RG from M1 is chargeable @ $2 monthly, quite worth it if using it as a replacement for the Singtel residential line.

So is your TP installed already or still waiting?? after TP is installed by Opennet, u still gonna wait for 1-3 months before backend testing is complete and u're allowed to sign up.

How to setup ONT when the TP is not even installed? Even after TP is installed there is backend testing on OpenNet side before one can sign-up for Fiber BB.

BTW, there's no need to concern about ONT or RG as this will be handle by the RSP which will liaise with NC. For ST and SH, installation on these 2 devices is done by their own staff whilst M1 will get NC to do it.

LOL.

BTW, what's the average lead time for OpenNet to response when RSP claimed that problem is not on their side?

P.s for my side WE DO NOT contact OpenNet at all. It's all actually Nucleus Connect who contacts OpenNet. Normally this takes from 1day - 5 days, depending on OpenNet's mood.

So our direct point of contact with OpenNet is "NIL", much to common misconception :\

We contact NC to contact OpenNet. Contactin NC on our side is fast and simple, just a phone call away and we're close like friends already :s13:. The problem often lies in OpenNet acting "afk" or playing punk, claiming issue resolved when it's not.
