if future TV is using the ONT then the connector will be Rj45 rite? so the existing type
of LCD TV cannot be connector to fibre rite?

P.s for my side WE DO NOT contact OpenNet at all. It's all actually Nucleus Connect who contacts OpenNet. Normally this takes from 1day - 5 days, depending on OpenNet's mood.

So our direct point of contact with OpenNet is "NIL", much to common misconception :\

We contact NC to contact OpenNet. Contactin NC on our side is fast and simple, just a phone call away and we're close like friends already :s13:. The problem often lies in OpenNet acting "afk" or playing punk, claiming issue resolved when it's not.

Well, according to SH CSO, they already escalate the case to OpenNet so the ball is on their court now. If ON continue to delay on their side, it's SH CSO that going to get ball smack on their face from me. :s13:

BTW, you're from M1 rite?

For IPtv service, it still require another STB much like the current SH/ST paid TV service. Connector will be RJ45 whether direct connection to ONT or via RG/Router from the STB.

I installed my TP next to my TV point, my ONT is there as well but both my router is in my room connected by using around 11m of Cat5e cable..

i m thinking of installing the TP next to my TV point in my living room and the ONT in my room.
will there be any additional charge for the longer cable, as compared to the usual length when place next to the TP, for the ONT?
the reason is that, with the longer fiber cable i can move the ONT when required in the future as the cable and ONT are not permanently fixed.
also the signal may be stronger compared to using Cat5e cable for the extension when the ONT is placed closed to the TP in the living room.

Another thing is that, presently the ISP required us to use their RG if we subscribe to their free DV. In the event the ISP's RG breaks down, can we use our own RG or we got to buy from them or get them to service?

Are the RG provided by all ISPs the same, Huawei 256?

1) You gonna purchase Fibre Cable on your own as they wont sell nor provide u such a long length(ONT is connected to TP by Fibre Cable)
2) Cat 5e is good for 1Gbps at 100m
3) In the event of RG failure, you need to bring it down to their shop for an exchange. You cannot just plug in ur own router, it wont work due to database registration.

when u connect your own wireless router to the RG, you have to switch off the wireless function at the RG and just connect your wireless router to the rj45 connector of the RG right?
i may be doing the same as i just bought a wireless N router recently for my MOL,

how much u paid for your 11m cat5e cable?

can show pic of the ONT and RG , connector side?

1) WLan function on Huawei RG is disabled.
2) DHCP on 2nd router is disabled with static IP set(Cannot conflict with RG Static). In my case, RG 192.168.1.1 and Linksys on 192.168.1.2.
3) My Cat 5E cable was free cos i work in I.T field, self measure and crimp. You can find ppl selling Cat 5e cable in vr-zone too

Pic of TP(Cant show u connecter as speaker blking my way),

Pic of ONT(Port 1-4 is RG45,1 Fibre Pt)Dont wana move my ONT for pictures of ports.

thanks....guest the ONT is same for all users rite?

BTW, is it possible to get the NC guy to connect the ONT first while deciding which
ISP to subscribe to?
i thinking this may save us time. rather than liase with ISP when
signing up as there is alot of waiting time as experienced by everyone here.

1) ONT is not the same for all ISP.
2) No, ONT will be installed after you sign up with any ISP for their Fibre BB services.

So if we want to have future TV the config will be like:

TP--fibre-->ONT--RJ45 CAT5e-->Huawei RG--RJ45 CAT5e-->DLink 655 router--RJ45 CAT5e-->STB--HDMI-->LCD TV

correct? TIA

But for singtel is different because they operate their own opco
TP--fibre-->Ericsson TO63G ONT-->2wire mio box 5012NV-002--RJ45 CAT5e-->Mio TV STB--HDMI-->TV and anyway my home will be installing this fibre service soon.

just a question...

since i wont be installing the TP at the living room due to the tv cabinet blocking it... it heavy to shift lol and above got the false ceiling and no spare power plug lol....

thus thinking of installing in my room where pc is currently located. The distance is around 14.79m... this is my estimation but how will they calculate the accurate distance from living room to my room, as i dont think they will install first without asking us where we want to have the TP... later more than 15m which good for them but i need pay more :(

thanks

for me, after i tell them where is the location i wanted to place the TP, they lay the fiber cable on floor, along the wall + using the trunking to estimate the length then they do a rough caculation and tell me its within 15m.

ah i see... it going to be ugly trunking lol... i got 2 choices a) trunking above the windows... or b) below the windows... :s13:
then all the way towards the top wall near the storeroom going to be abit of problem... since is kind of a u shape but is around 90 degree... which is a problem...

or i can install inside another room towards my room but the aircon is blocking the way to my room lol...

either way... hope a better solution lol :s13:=:p

later kana F by the contractor for being too troublesome... maybe have to use the other room to my room method... one straight line in after passing the entrance of storeroom... (other room got scv point but no spare plug lol :s13:) only thing need to drill 2 holes under the aircon for both rooms... both are wood holding up the aircons... dont know how much damage the old wood can endured for drilling
