fibre trunking inside false ceiling

Anyone providing conceal wiring for opennet other than Ayub? Can recommend?

Anyone can pvt msg me if theres anyone else besides Ayub?

By the way, has anyone, on the day itself managed to get Open net installer to help u to lay the optic cable with the trunking inside your false ceiling?

for those who managed to get them to lay inside false ceiling:
I guess they will have to cut few holes right? Do they also lay the conduit pipe and draw rope? Or they just do the normal trunking but inside the false ceiling?

Hi guys. On just installed my tp. My reading to tp is -14 and to my other point is -19. Is this good enough? Also how do I check if they install port 2? Any idea?

That's better than mine signal. The ON claimed it must be below -25db (So the more nearer to 0 is the best) and optimally around -20dB (Probably my location).

Ask them, actually when the ON installers install TP, there is only one thin fiber cord (Black colour wire on top of TP, covered by a seal similar to SCV one)

If that is the case, then there is only port 1 provisioned.

Had my installation yesterday. It went okay despite some damage to my lights. Signal reading was at -12.

HI,

Am a newbie in this forum but I couldn't find anything suitable posts to address my issue.

I am staying in a condo in the East and would like to get my house, nicely wired. My management had said that I need to do it the open trunking way, not that I'm complaining but a few of my neighbours are saying that they are fighting to get it to laid via the telephone conduit from the riser into the house. Which is definitely cleaner. A few of the installation has taken place and the feedback was Opennet did a lousy job in laying it internally. We can get our own contractors to hide under the ceiling but I've a balcony that first leads into my living room, that is without a false ceiling.

Obviously they are now arguing to say that I cannot lay my fiber cables through my telephone conduit from the riser into my house. The condo manager has asked me to write to Singtel for approval. Tried calling the hotline and everyone don't seem to know who I can it from.

Any kind soul who has the same experience and can assist so that I can get to the right person quickly to get my approval, else, I'll forgo the free installation by Opennet.

Thank you.

It's okay. The guy tried to fix it back. Just close one eye.

Now wait for MR appt on Saturday. With the negative comments on MR in the other thread, I am getting worried.

Be confident. Don't think so much as it sounds like praying for the worst instead.....

Regardless, MR is still better than Big 3.... Stinktel is hype (Only No symmetrical plan from the Big 3 + Only Op-Co no 1Gbps plan and mio sucks anyway. Don't give chance to them.) while Laghub nothing to say (MR & Laghub uses Nucleus Connect anyway).......

Worst come to worst, after contract you choose between M1 for total cost (On par / worse than MR) or VQ for total performance. But for cost effective option, I think is MR while sacrificing some performance.

Thanks. Just that it sucks to know that you do not receive what you expect to. Some of the problems in the other thread seems rather fundamental.

I indeed heard from one of the MR rep that they will solve China problems within a few months as back then (Right before Comex) has talked to Chinese ISP.

Well, how things work or not is still an issue.... But if you stay MR long enough, it is either they would become SuperInternet (By right not supposed to be since there was one example while another case study would make NC / IDA a joke because initially there was only 1 Op-Co) or become a fourth largest competitor (Unless more are willing to spend extra for total performance @ VQ which I did)

So my ISP (VQ) has today came down and install.

They will do a signal test again, but probably the device is different from OpenNet and hence the reading is also different one.

Depending on ISP and plan, your mileage might different.

For me, as the IPTV (VQTV, something like Apple TV) is out of stock, hence it was not brought in.

One Voice (Digital Home Line) and the Fiber was connected accordingly. The installation should not take more than 15 mins though, to 30 mins.....

The speed test result (Local) is very impressive for me (As my location, the signal is not the best anyway) and Wi-Fi directly can watch myTVB (Geo-locked to Hong Kong, similar to Toggle equivalent there) etc.

Watch Toggle Catch Up no buffer at all. But yah, ON installation is more complicated than the part 2 installation from ISP.

If Singnet is the one tell you OpenNet got problem, go ask OpenNet again lor. It might be Singnet schedule problem (Never submit correct schedule) or it is really OpenNet problem and Singnet has the gesture to inform her customer (And why did not OpenNet call you?)

Points to Take Note

hey guys,

have been following this thread and this is wat i have gathered to keep in mind for the OpenNet installation:
(1) Punctuality
If the installers don't come on time, or even after u have given them a half hour's grace, it will be best to call ur ISP that u signed up with or OpenNet to confirm that the installers r indeed coming
(2) Tamper Seal
Make sure the installers stick a "Voided if Tampered" sticker on the TP box after installation has been completed
(3) Positioning
Positioning of ur TP box can be anywhere, only 15m from the corridor is provided free though
Also, try as much as possible to insist that they activate both Ports 1 and 2
(4) Measurement Test
Acceptable range is between 19-20dB, the nearer the reading is to 0, the better it is

I m having my installation tml (20/9) so will greatly appreciate it if bros here have any more points that i should look out for during installation?

Thanks!

I think the acceptable range is really depends on where you live because some tend to be having a poorer reading (Not sure if it is because the distance between the unit / TP to the MDF or sort of or is it really the quality of the line used depends on the district is lower or middle income aka the impression of the concentration of internet savy people there one)

Under Point 1
Honestly, you call your ISP also no point because Your ISP will have to call OpenNet and OpenNet will have to call their sub contractor Office to find out what happen and then after which the reverse order for the information to be passed to back to you.

Thanks all for sharing your experience and advice here. Mine was installed successfully this morning. They were punctual but unfortunately they don't want to activate my port 2. The overall length is just 4m and measurement is -17db... Should be ok right? Now just waiting for ISP to install the rest tomorrow..

Under point 1. For TP installation day (First appointment), just go call OpenNet straight.

If it is second appointment (Usually ISP installers), then call ISP instead...
