technically, it is ok to install anywhere in your house but the only problem is that if
suay suay when installing the ONT n RG by your ISP thing dont work you need to get Opennet and redo the fiber again. U may have to wait long long

Someone kena liao, as mentioned in some threads........

wah does that involved any cost to redo the fibre?

thought they got check ones? already ask them... but the reply are :s22:

i gave them 6 mths to fix it... should be enough =:p

My home also installed the TP yesterday.I installed the TP near the mIO TV point.
I read the opennet coverage check and it shows this Your building is ready for Next Gen NBN services. You can now approach a Retail Service Provider (RSP) to subscribe for Next Gen NBN services. Some of the RSPs include M1, SingTel, StarHub, SuperInternet and ViewQwest. My building is ready or not for now.I can now subscribe to SingTel explore Home Sports Plan with mio TV since my handphone line is singtel BTW.

OpenNet stating so does not mean that the ISP/RSPs would allow you to sign up. ALot cases whereby opennet say "can can".. at the ISP side they upfront reject. This is because OpenNet lazy update the ISP about the Fibre ready status..

Guys 1 clarification from what i understand the pathway is like this?
TP (OPENNET) > ONT (SERVICE PROVIDER) > ROUTER (SERVICE PROVIDER) > Computer

1 more thing. Must pay for ONT Installation?

yes, but charges may be waived during roadshows or other promos.

Good to know. Opennet dropping by tmrw to install the TP. Will drop by again to share the experience.

1. Is there's only 1 RG (Huawei HG256S) available?
2. And from what i know, you can't use your normal router right? ONT > Router
3. If not, anyone actually try routing it from ONT > RG > Router/Switch
4. Huawei HG256S only has 1 port that supports 1Gb/s? The rest are 10/100?

Sorry, so many doubts haha :s22:

1. HG256 and HG256S
2. CAN use own router, provided you don't rent RG. Meaning no voice.
3. Can work, but will be doing unnecessary workload.
4. S model all gigabit.

Finally getting my TP installed tmr :s13:

Is there any sort of basic functional checks on the TP after installation? E.g. able to send/receive light pulses via the fibre cables.

Only M1 allows u to use your own router over Huawei HG-256 if you decide not to use the VoIP services.

Opennet finish installing, good, fast an clean. They used my previous SCV trunking. They say another person will come again to test the cable/signal. True?

Update: It's the same dude. Supervisor came and check the stuff and signal. All OK. Now, probably wait for IT show promotion. How long do you guys have to wait for activation? Although opennet website say can contact ISP liao...

Was the 2nd visit to check the cable/signal conducted on a different day, or just a couple of hours after the initial TP installation?
