Even if you need cable, it will be done by another company/contractor for your subscribed service, so how do they actually earn your money? Tv point because ethernet cable is cheaper and easier to lay compared to fiber

Usually, how long do you guys wait after your TP has been installed by OpenNet? Is it really ard 1 mth or shorter than that? Say for a private residential place...

Guess the rationale to install near TV is to cater for future HD IPTV content. It's more difficult to move our big TV to bed/study rooms n guess we also don't do that. PCs n laptops got easier option to use WIFI adaptors to connect to HG/own router in living room. If you like, you can also connect laptop to ONT point n to TV to watch online streaming content during parties... I do that for watching rare Korean variety shows... =)

Of course, future TVs may come with WIFI function n then guess it doesn't matter TP is where liow... Already Samsung n Sony are promoting Internet TV models but not sure what're the specs. Even Apple is rumored to be selling a full-fledge TV too...!

Im staying in Bedok and received the letter thus I started reading up most of the pages here.

The question that is still on my mind is:

Why do we not insist to have it in the bedroom (where you use your PC) instead of mendling with cabling later on?

Can someone enlighten me? Is it because the workers will insist you have it in the living room next to the SCV point?

And if I choose to have it in my bedroom, what are the other implications next time? Have to use home plugs to watch Miotv in living room? Im really still confused here.

So are we allow to put the open net in bedroom???

let's put it this way....

u can have the FTP in your bedroom but at least must have a power point
because if u subscribe to internet service... they will issue ONT(Modem) which needs
power supply.

Depending on how far your bedroom is situated from the ingress point(entry of fibre
cable from outside into your house), the length may exceed the first 15m which is free.. the excess length will be chargeable.

E.g: 16m = 15m(Free) + 1m($33) or 21m = 15m(Free) + 5m($33) + 1m($33)

Note: $33 charge applies to per 5m or less.

The reason why FTP is recommended to be installed near SCV/TV point is because
there is possibility that RSP may offer fibre services that may include (E.g MIOTV, starhub cable vision)

hi all,

1. can i confirm that i cannot ask to install more than one termination point?

2. if (1) is not possible, most advices here are installing the termination in living room, and have wireless connection to room PC. however, i am toying with the idea of having the termination point in my room and if need be, have my TV in the living room hooked up wirelessly. is this possible?

Oh...is 15m free wire from outside to house... So if wire cannot reach any point of the room, can we just leave the wire half hanging on the ceiling?

From the entrance point to the desired place. This is usually the drill point at the main gate/door. If you don't mind having a termination point sticking out sorely on ceiling, then yes. But remember, you must be able place the ONT less than 2m to the point, so it might not be ok for you at all.

Nope... only 1 TP is to be installed per household..

that is wat openet ans me in my email enquiry.

Cos my TP is in my living room, in the future if i were to subscribe to fibre. I do not wan wireless as i dont want to everytime go to my living room juz to on/off my modem.

I want everything related to my comp (internet/monitor) to be together.

So wat i can tink of, is put the modem in my room, and use a lan cable to route from the living room to my room?

Opennet just done installing the fibre optic terminal point for me a moment ago.
Both chinese, don't really know if they are from local or msia but nevertheless they are super friendly and well mannered.
They are late for about 1 hr, my appointment was at 4PM and they came at 5PM.
But they kept apologizing to me, made me feel so paiseh.
Then they asked me where I wanna install the TP, I told them my room....
Without questioning, they went ahead to do it.
I told them to do a new trunking for me to run the cable from main door to my bedroom.
Everything swee swee, trunking nicely done and sealed up swee swee. Great job!
Then I offered them drinks...

Overall, it took about 2 hrs to get the job done including testing of the TP. :D
Satisfy customer here!

Btw, here is the reading.... I not so sure whether this reading is good anot though, but the guy doing the test told me, "this is not good BUT very good."

Test Measurement. 1310nm - 0.57, 1490nm - 0.45, 1550nm - 0.44.
Anyone understand the reading? Thanks!
After they left, I straightaway switched on my cabletv and net, everything in order. :D

1310 1490 1550 is the optic wavelength. Ur reading is actually very good in optical loss. But of coz its with reference to where they input the testing source.
