I didn't post any photos. Anyway, I don't really care if they read my post and know who I am. In fact, it might be good they know my displeasure with them. I was thinking of lodging a formal complaint with OpenNet but then I also understand that the workers are overworked and under lots of stress. They are rushing the rollout now, all thanks to the 800 lb gorilla who carries a red umbrella.
You don't have your photo, but Heidal's was "quoted". I am suggesting this quoted photo be deleted.

Anyway, unlike your apartment, my false ceiling is very high, leaving very little gap between it and the concrete above it. In addition, I don't have downlights. I just have the TP installed in the dining hall next to the row of power outlets and co-ax point. For a start, I will use Homeplug, which I am currently using with my cable broadband, to distribute connectivity around the apartment. Once MoCA 2.0 devices are available on the market, I will switch over to use them. The Homeplugs that I have from Aztech support up to 200 mbps. It should be more that sufficient for the 100 mbps fiber plan that I intend to subscribe.
Why liddat... Must pull ethernet cabling when renovate home

200Mbps homeplug has a peak throughput performance of ~60+Mbps.
So you will confirm lost out if you get 100Mbps internet plan.

You can choose the 500Mbps variant

Will keep that in mind when I renovate. Anyway, thanks for the info about the performance cap of the homeplug. Guess I will have to fork out some cash for the gigabit homeplugs. Wait for the next IT fair to come along

Heidel deleted the photos from the source (photobucket) already. Won't be an issue unless they have been cached somewhere already

Yup, all disappeared...

Edit: Now just hope that there is no insensitive guys to raise the issue with Opennet.

well, i registered/book my appointment online when i received the mailer. got a screenshot of my confirmed appointment on a Sat. It stated that they will call after 5 working days. but never call.

I decided to call them, put on hold for 1hr then auto cut off. sibeh sian.... drop them email via their website stating the above with my screenshot. Finally, got a call from them yesterday, 27th Sep telling me that they did not capture my booking in their system. say call to confirm my date for appointment again. My original Sat appointment is gone and no more available. Make noise to them and they say they have computer glitch and all booking is gone, so yesterday they start to call everyone, one by one to remake booking.

TMD, so coincident one, send email they call then this thing happen. This company can't even maintain their system, how to trust them to the roll out of fibre connection throughout Singapore.

Yah lor, got IDA feedback channel or not? Must "Feedback" all this. what is the use for us to book online when this thing happen. Somemore, their hotline can call through one meh? call so many times, always on hold. 1hr is the longest i waited and it got auto cut off.....

I had the same issue with you. i got the call telling me they did not capture the installation date due to some gitch. so now call me to remake the appt.

And so i wondered if appt not capture how can or how do they know i had already made an appt? ended up i called them every half a day to ask about this issue till a day before the orginal installation date, 29 Sept. It was not very pleasant exp as they did not promise to call back until i called after being put on hold for so long.

But ultimately they managed to get the contractor down to do the installation on the 29 Sept without confirming with me. So much so about the gitch they they failed to capture the appointment. If they had managed to get the appt for me at the very last min, then kudos to the back end staff who made it happen.

Can you or anyone share a contracter contact that can work with opennet guys during their installation to open up and install inside false ceilings?
or how?

Just came across this thread. I've previously posted my terrible experience with OpenNet

Bottle line is they are terrible. If you want to schedule a date outside the limited ones they provided, they will charge you. Even one day outside the allocate date, they will charge you $220-$450! No nego on date to come.

Their supplied material is terrible. It'll distroy the look of your place - cheap crappy material sticking on your walls. I want to hide it so need to bring in my own contractor since Opennet refuse to install in false ceiling. But contactor can only make it other date and Opennet refuse to come if I don't pay them $220. WTF! Government paying Opennet to do a job and they still want to charge coz they refuse to shift the date. Calling customer support is like talking to a recording - always repeat the same thing "we will charge you if you want us to come outside allocated date for your area!". Opennet just after $$$

I gave up. Rather go for cable than to be bullied them Opennet :s31:

Note: Don't let your contractors move Fibre Point on their own. There's a sticker on your Fibre point that voids your warranty if its torn. You'll have to pay a charge of $220/+- if anything goes wrong to your Fibre point. Make sure ON guys check your signal. GPON signal reading should more go higher than -27dBm.

hi all...

Im abit blur with the terminlogy and the installation.
My house is going to renovate soon hence i need to provision for this opennet thing.
Can we ask them to install it in the room instead?

TP is the box that opennet people installed?
ONT is from ISP? issit just like a modem?

Standard configuration, TP connecting to ONT.
Will my wireless router be connected to the ONT?

Living Room Study Room
========= =============
TP ---> ONT ---> Router --> NAS
So if we want to place the router in the room, we must lay a cable from ONT in the living room to the room?
And for the NAS, it will then put connected to the Router in the room?

How abt MIO tv? does it connect to the ONT or router?

thanx

If the reading of GPON is not, whom do we approach?

What do you mean? If you mean the reading from the GPON terminal is not within expected values, you should contact your RSP or OpCo who will then forward it to OpenNet should there be any issues. For instance, on Viewqwest, you would contact them and they would forward it to ON should any changes be necessary.
